Pros

You get a $15 block of cheese every year for your Christmas bonus

Cons

Horrible work atmosphere where the eye in the sky is always watching. Jobs aren’t planned properly and you spend a lot of time looking for something to do. Only one or two people actually know what they’re doing so you spend the entire time teaching yourself. Very low pay even for the guys on the road and benefits are horrible. Not to mention that they are very unprofessional and extremely racist and sexist. I was told we’d never see a woman or a black man working in the shop. Use of the N word was definitely common even after stating that I didn’t approve and it made me uncomfortable. They don’t really have an HR there so even if you complain it just gets swept under the rug. They don’t have any real engineers or blueprints. It’s usually what the owners son can come up with and he hands you some scribbles with no measurements. All of the equipment is from harbor freight which isn’t too horrible if you’re working out your garage. The owners son uses the place like his personal playground and piggy bank, which makes for a very toxic environment.

Pros

Decent health insurance. That’s all they have going for them

Cons

The old “Bait and Switch” model of being hired. You’re promised one thing and there is zero follow-through. Get excited! When you work for the Sisson family at UDMC you get a brick of cheese as your “Christmas Bonus,” and if you’re really lucky, a hundred bucks. When you’re terminated, you might get a few hundred dollars of your PTO when you have small children and a family to support. No severance after 7+ years of work. Horrible communication, disrespectful internally, and the nepotism is a big issue. The lack of professionalism from a generational “familial” corporation is evident. Unable to employ and keep engineers, welders and internal sales due to the toxic work environment based on the “leadership” of Steven, Tony and Eva. Work there at your own risk. There’s a reason the turnover rate is so high. Employees and Managers mistreating other employees with emotionally abusive quips , condescending tones, power-trips, and egos.
