Pros

Lots of cake, selfies and beer in the brake room...especially towards the end. Proof that outsourcing jobs and commercial work will never work.

Cons

The HR department. This was arguably the worst department in history of anything known in the work place. They "worked" once a year - open enrollment- and they even managed to murk that up. Enter China, depart USA jobs. All contracts that were given up were probably lost to competitors or could not be delivered. Support of China is a 24/7 365 gig, it was later discovered. "Quality department" and its clueless tyrant boss. More product and material in RMA, scrap and rework bins than in the production line. Imagine if a fast food restaurant worked the same Clueless "engineers"and "managers"..as other posters say. The sales department discovered a document called a "waiver"! Sued for non compliant parts by a defense contractor. After 30 years in the industry, this company is no more.

Pros

One realizes why it's so important to have competent engineers and technical managers in the field to actually do the work of their field of study. Great potential to do work in a niche market. It was consolidated by the parent company for parts to feed other business units.

Cons

Sadly all the potential this company had was wasted with years of replacing competent engineers with non engineering staff by promoting them to and giving them engineering titles. Other supporting cast of staff was just as lacking if not worse. Very few people actually had titles that matched their technical know how. "You could go to the nearest bus stop and find the next thin films technician" was the popular adage. This not only watered down the brand but it has set a scary scenario where these individuals are now scattered in the technical world leap frogging off job titles they should not have had in the first place. Everything that could have possibly gone wrong with poor management and a team of mostly unqualified staff went wrong and then some. Some people's live changed forever and not in a positive way. One can and should write a book.
