Pros

Friendly people. 9 to 5 mentality except for a few managers. Junior staff and portfolio managers are always willing to help. Vacation time is extremely generous even for Wall Street standards. The culture encourages employees to maintain the status quo and not exert themselves. Good stepping stone with a steady stream of new ETFs launches. Great new office space and convenience midtown location.

Cons

Recent management hires are highly political and will throw others under the bus every chance they can. Executive management turns a blind eye to this behavior and pits senior executives and mid-managers against each other creating a highly political environment. Limited opportunities for advancement with many long time employees adverse to change, which shows with the outdated technology. Too much bureaucracy for a small asset management firm. Workloads are unbalanced with many employees under utilized and most department overstaffed.

True culture of accountability starts at top. When you’ve worked for a large bureaucratic asset manager, VE culture is refreshing. If you’re lazy and unaccountable, you won’t enjoy

Cons

Would be nice to have a share of the success like equity or tracking stock.

Cons

The new manager take advantage of his title and don’t even know his accounting. He would call the auditor duirng busy time to ask who make up the affiliate in the footnote. Took him three days to review simple financial statement, didnt know the IRR formula or understand waterfall. Make excuse and get away with anything. Sign off financial statement with the incorrect NAV. He cant check without your formula. How can someone pretend review if they dont know what they doing. Only copy file then reformat and take the credit. The director don’t communicate with team on any update.
