Pros

Vertex is a good place to work. If you are looking for a stable company with stable employment, this is definitely the place to be. The benefits are pretty good and there is definitely an attention and focus on balanced work life. Overall its a good place to work if you don't want your world turned upside down. Its a slow steady pace that won't have you pulling your hair out from stress. It will however test your patience if you are a passionate person. I would recommend the company for someone who would enjoy steady employment but doesn't want to be challenged.

Cons

Depending on the departments you work in the people can be like drones. The work is repetitive and it is demands based. There is very little change and change is often shunted or frowned upon. Probably like most companies there is very little room for advancement. Most of the positions are lateral positions and don't offer much in the change of responsibilities. There is also no natural career path. In addition, most of the employees that work here have been employed since companies inception, so the idea of moving into a position that is vacated by a tenured employee is far to none. Innovation is discussed but it is a very slow process and the technology offered by the company is behind the times.

Pros

- Valuable to have a job in this market, and somewhere that historically pays a market rate - unlimited PTO for fulltime

Cons

- New CEO is something...concerning. Workforce reduction, replacing C-suite with former pals from previous companies, huge push on AI without the subsequent reassurance that our jobs won't be replaced. Seems like the goal is for all of us to train AI to do our jobs before getting let go. Really tone deaf when us little people have livlihoods on the line.
