Company performance largely depends on factors outside their control. Since they make most of their revenue from ads, they are at mercy of Google's search algorithm which drives most of their traffic. Ads spending are also super sensitive to macro economic trends. In my 3 years there they have gone thorough 3 hire/layoff cycles.
