Pros

Vocon is a great place to start off. The hands on experience you get at Vocon is unlike anywhere else I have worked. Designers and Technical lead working along with senior leadership to complete the work- design, draw, presenting to clients, and seeing projects to their completion. The speed of the work and the people you get to work with are amazing. Exciting place to start!

Cons

If you aren't a quick learner, the speed of the work and variety of work is what will probably sink you. You need to be nimble and willing to learn to be successful at Vocon. You also need to advocate for yourself because you can feel lost if you don't.

Pros

The company has an amazing culture that truly lives up to its values. They consistently celebrate both personal and professional milestones, creating a supportive and inclusive environment. The work-life balance is excellent, and the mentorship I've received has been incredibly valuable—especially as I am just beginning my career. It's a hardworking workplace where people are passionate about what they do, and the leadership genuinely cares about employee wellness. Overall, it's been an outstanding place to grow and thrive professionally.

Cons

No major drawbacks to mention so far—my experience has been very positive.

Pros

Quite a few talented people have joined Vocon in the past 2 -3 years but they are quickly figuring out that they wasting their time at this company and are slowly leaving one by one.

Cons

There is no clear leadership or understanding where the company is headed. CFO recently resigned (huge red flag). Projects are brought in haphazardly with zero future planning. Some projects are grossly under valued and PMs are expected to make miracles and not lose money. Some people are overworked while others are sitting around for 3hr lunches meanwhile bonuses are evenly distributed. Owner is not educated in the field and she promotes people based on favoritism with zero merit (then 6 months later turns around and fires them). She is out of touch with New York market and talent. At company town halls she often breaks down crying which is quite unsettling. Company does not have a clear org chart. Mid level PAs are leading studios. A lot of hiring mistakes (people being hired as Senior Designers or PAs and they are not even at the Junior level). Lots of bullying within the company that primarily comes from a family member. Lots of erratic behavior and bad decisions from leadership which causes chaos and unhealthy and toxic work environment. Not your typical New York architectural or interior design firm...very much a work in progress with lots of insurmountable challenges. Health Insurance is Cleveland based and beyond basic.
