Pros

Volume One is a small team that handles many areas: local news coverage, writing, design, video, photography, event production, marketing, social media, and a retail store. So team members have lots of opportunities to participate in creative work that reaches a large local audience. Since it's a small team, each person has some freedom to expand their job role to contribute in different ways - learn new things, and find new challenges. A unique/interesting aspect of working there is that new ideas will come up -- to support some local initiative or event. It all has to be figured out: what to call it, how to write about it, design/branding/video, organizing vendors, and how to promote it. It's interesting to collaborate, and see an idea through from beginning to end. Day-to-day it's a pretty relaxed, quiet, open-office environment. Great office space - with separate spaces for the sales team and design team. A large and small conference room, small recording studio, kitchen, and gallery space. Convenient downtown Eau Claire location.

Cons

The hardest part of the job could actually be the amount of autonomy you have. Someone who needs to be told what to do every minute of the day will be disappointed.
