Pros

Hearst is a good company to work for, with stable leadership and good health benefits. Locally, you're around a lot of likable people who have been there for years. There are company holiday parties, occasional food trucks and free ice cream trucks on Fridays in the summer.

Cons

Management can be a pain sometimes, tough to get useful feedback. I was woefully underpaid. No opportunities for advancement.

Pros

Some very kind people work here.

Cons

This is a strong union shop. What's wring with that? love the union- BUT in this case people are more willing to make you wait hours (in one case 24 hours) to do their job submitting tape in the tape room. They had all kinds of excuses: I'm to lunch in 15 minutes, I have another show coming up in 2 hours. I literally needed a tape to be put in for a 60sec spot. Only one person in the tape room had the guts to tell me that the old times in the room didn't like air jobs and were waiting out their contracts and that's why I wasn't getting any response.

Pros

Fairly easy and good experience if you want to get into radio broadcasting.

Cons

Little opportunities for promotion. Low pay. Frequently asked to cover other shifts. Over night shifts sometimes required. Weekend shifts often required.
