Pros

Small company means you get the opportunity to work hands-on in a lot of elements of the project. Never boring. Great experience. Lots of feedback. The team is fun and we have a good time while we work.

Cons

Hours can be long, with some evenings/weekend work, but it's typically never a surprise. You'll know when you need to work late. The projects can be challenging, and because there is very little busy-work, if you mess up a project the consequences can be big. Management is very fitness orientated and you sometimes may find yourself in the middle of a pushup contest.

Pros

* Great environment to learn and grow. You get the benefit of supportive and helpful colleagues while retaining the responsibility of owning your work. * Lots of opportunities to work across the entire cloud engineering stack. From week to week you can end up working on anything from TypeScript UIs to Kotlin backends to Terraform modules to Devops workflows and tooling, depending on your interests and willingness to volunteer for the work. * Many challenging problems in a complicated industry. * Remote friendly! As long as you get your work done and communicate clearly you also get the benefit of a flexible schedule. * Friendly, supportive culture.

Cons

* Less of a con and more of a warning -- there can be days or even weeks of siloed, independent working. Seeing the forest for the trees during these times takes discipline.

Pros

A few reasons to work @ Xetus (from a software developer's perspective): - One of the best team's I've ever been a part of - Openness. Technical challenges are very common as the problems solved by Xetus are commonly quite complicated. This has fostered a very open culture among the software development team where people routinely peer review concepts before and after code is written. My personal experience working in this environment is that it accelerates development efforts as there are less mistakes made and the transfer of knowledge compounds an individual's efforts on future iterations. - Openness again. Upper management are 100% accessible. Company questions? Personal questions? etc... I never once felt the need to exercise restraint in asking poignant questions of upper mgmt. There is transparency and respect for all branches of the company. - The company culture is very unique, in a good way. It's basically like a gang but rather than being jumped in, you just need to land a job and you're a part of it. - Technical challenges and lots of them. You will not be bored -- ever.

Cons

This is more of a warning than a con. - Xetus is a startup - During my years @ Xetus the company was made up of the hardest working people i've met - If you cannot handle shipping a feature on time, meeting milestones when they are due or general busting ass when it's required then this company is not the right fit for you
