Pros

Great apprenticeship schemes up to the recent incidents & changes.

Cons

Sadly, many of the issues at Zenopa stem from leadership and the often toxic family influence behind the business. In my experience, there is a strong preference for hiring and developing more junior individuals, which can create an environment where challenge and independent thinking are limited. More experienced hires often struggle to operate within the company’s “unique” structure and way of working, which no senior recruiters ever last at Zenopa, as they won’t put up with the companies ‘unique’ model. There is also a broader issue around culture and professionalism at the top of the organisation. Leadership behaviour and internal dynamics can make the environment feel uncomfortable and, at times, difficult to navigate. Over the past 6–12 months, there has been a noticeable level of turnover, including senior leadership and high-performing consultants. That level of attrition raises valid questions about stability and long-term direction. There appears to be a disconnect between how the business views its own performance and how it is perceived externally and internally by employees. Overall, this was not a positive environment to work in, and I would encourage anyone considering joining to speak with multiple current and former employees before making a decision

Pros

I have worked at Zenopa for a long time, so I’ve seen the business during both very positive periods and more challenging ones. Despite a difficult year internally, the commercial position of the business is strong and the brand remains well respected. The team is one of the company’s biggest strengths – many employees are loyal, knowledgeable and genuinely care about delivering a great experience for clients and candidates. Zenopa gives people the opportunity to develop real expertise in niche markets, and the culture at its best is supportive, collaborative and driven by a shared commitment to delivering for customers.

Cons

The last 12 months have been a period of disruption for the company. Some individuals who were given positions of influence did not align with the company’s values, which created a negative internal environment and worked actively against the progression leadership were working towards. Last year the Managing Director stepped down for personal reasons, which snowballed change and feelings of uncertainty. Some of the concerns raised in previous reviews do have merit, and the business is still working through the effects of that period and rebuilding a more positive culture.

Pros

Zenopa offers strong opportunities for progression if you are motivated and willing to put the work in. There are clear paths to move up and people who perform well are recognised and given more responsibility. The team environment is supportive and mentors make a big difference, particularly when you are learning the role. The company also invests in developing people long term, including a genuine commitment to degree apprenticeships which is great to see. Zenopa has built a strong reputation in its specialist markets. It is clear the business values investing in its people and building expertise within the sectors it works in. It’s also a place where commitment is recognised. People who are consistent, resilient and serious about building a career in recruitment tend to do very well and are rewarded with progression and opportunity.

Cons

The pace can be high and expectations are demanding, which may not suit everyone. Recent internal changes have created some uncertainty and this has impacted retention in parts of the business. At times the culture can feel a little uneasy while things settle.
