Pros

The company operates in a growing industry and gives exposure to national accounts. You will learn quickly—but mostly by being thrown into situations without guidance.

Cons

This was one of the most mentally exhausting and disillusioning work environments I’ve experienced. A common pattern is hiring people with little to no industry experience. On the surface, this looks like “opportunity,” but in reality it creates an environment where employees don’t fully understand processes, margins, or their actual value—making it easier for the company to overwork and underpay them. Employees are expected to bring in significant revenue while being compensated far below what their output justifies. Despite repeated claims that pay is “competitive” or “above market,” this does not align with the workload, pressure, or money being generated. The compensation structure benefits the company far more than the people doing the work. Training and support are inconsistent or nonexistent. Employees are expected to perform at a high level without being properly equipped, then blamed when things go wrong. Metrics matter more than people, and leadership focuses heavily on optics rather than fixing systemic issues. Favoritism and internal politics outweigh performance. Raising concerns is often met with dismissal, deflection, or silence, creating a culture where speaking up feels risky. Burnout is common, and turnover is treated as normal instead of as a serious problem.

Pros

Two specific employee’s at Zters genuinely ruined my life for the time being. So I enjoyed working for this company at the beginning, but realized soon how tight knit it was, & the moment you rub anyone the wrong way within a certain “group,” you would be fired. Without any prior warnings, even though you’re told you would get a heads up and several warnings, especially if it was performance based. For context, I was hired on as an account manager & my partner was employed not longer after me. The culture at ZTERS really does feel like family as multiple families work there together, and I felt comfortable being able to work alongside my loving & supportive partner. Surprisingly enough, although he never had a desk job & had a physical laborious background, he enjoyed the job even more than I did. I was happy about that. And I thought it was a great opportunity for both of us to grow in this company due to my education background in Business Administration (even though they don’t require degrees) & his (newfound) talent to sell to construction companies. We both got along with everyone there, there wasn’t a single person I felt I was ever walking on egg shells with. They had a program that allowed me to finish my final course for college while employed there, that was fully funded by them, so I will say there are some amazing people who run the company! Furthermore, we were both excited to either move up in the company or perform so well that we would get awarded with many of the cool “prizes” they offer when employees exceed their sales goal.

Cons

That was until I realized that these CSS’s will fire you just because they’re tired of working with you, or having a bad day themselves for no other reason than their own. I know this because I was fired due to “not hitting my quota,” yet, I was forced into a brand new role, using a brand new system & within two months, they told me I was not performing to their standards. Although, most companies review these quotas that are punishable with resignation every quarter. That week specifically, I was the least performing BDR, but their were several weeks I was the top seller that week for either personal or business products. Therefore, there’s always one performer at the bottom of the sales list, yet, I was the only fired for this reason. My partner was fired because of “spelling errors,” or atleast that’s what he was told, even though he remained one of the top selling BDR’s the entire time, some days making up to six sales a day. My CSS at the time told me specifically at the beginning of the role that they would never fire anyone without several warnings or discussions about performance, due to the new systems in place. Also, I was 8 months pregnant. I was hesitant on writing this post, but due to these two CSS’s decisions to let us both go for reasons that I could genuinely sue this company over, ultimately ruined our lives for several (seemingly very long) months. Like I said, my partner recieved several awards for top salesman (one within his first 90 days!), yet again, they let him go due to reasons that every single person makes there every single day. It was totally abuse of power from these two women due to impulsivity & emotional irregulation , instead of true logic & explanation (so we will never actually know why we were ever fired).
