Pros
1. Flexible working schedules, home office or fully remote working is possible if agreed on with one's manager. Availability is demanded during core working hours, apart from that, anyone can work at any time. Work hours can slightly increase before product launches but on average they do not exceed 8 hours. Results matter more than time spent at work, work-life balance is great. 2. Nice colleagues, international team and welcoming company culture. Things may not always go as expected, but everyone is open to feedback and helpful in stressful situations. The atmosphere can be described as ambitious but also relaxed, lots of fun at work. 3. Projects are interesting and usually have a high technological focus. Achieved milestones are celebrated with the whole company. 4. Benefits are great. There is a company retreat abroad once a year, free office lunches, drinks at the office and team building events (remote and physical). Equipment can be chosen and also desks or office chairs can be customised as desired. 5. While the former company strategy often seemed blurry and vague, the new long-term vision/strategy combined with the restructuring for the company seems very promising. It is also encouraging that the board is open to improvements and initiatives from employees (internal company improvement working groups).
Cons
1. Internal communication tends to lacks a bit. Company retreats are great for catching up and providing information for everyone, but in-between, updates could be more comprehensive. This seems to be one of the "growing pains" as the company is planning to grow and has been moving on the verge between being a startup and an enterprise, yet it can be unsatisfying at times. 2. The company could be more sustainable. This has also significantly improved in the past years and I feel like we are doing well, yet we could do more (e.g. emission offsetting). I know that efforts have been made, but progress stagnated recently. However, I am generally very happy with working for brainbot and see the recent changes very positively, which is why the two cons are rather small inconveniences than actual problems.
