Pros
The people are what made DeviantArt a great people to work. DA had some of the brightest minds in their field, and unfortunately (but predictably) almost all of them are no longer at DA anymore. I feel fortunate to have worked there during a time where I received excellent mentorship, worked with amazing artists, and got to do exciting marketing campaigns. I made lifelong friends at DA while serving and supporting artists the entire time. I just wish that era of DA didn't have to come to an end so soon.
Cons
There is no direction from executives and they cannot decide what they want DeviantArt to be. It is clear from the failures of products that DA creates and then abandons that the throw-spaghetti-on-the-wall-and-see-what-sticks method is not working out. Maybe you will be reading this in the far-off future and DA has risen from the ashes once again. I hope so. I really believe in the power of DeviantArt to uplift and elevate the online art community.
