    Pros

Plenty of overtime because of terrible management especially in Distribution

    Cons

Cronyism at its best !!! People in management that don't have a clue. Kiss that rear end,

I have been working at Encore Wire full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Competitive pay, plenty of hours, easy work, convenient location if you live in the northern suburbs of DFW, fairly low turnover, no layoffs, growing company.

    Cons

An almost total lack of communication between management and the masses. Poor communication between shifts. Promotion is more of a popularity contest than being about your skills, experience and productivity. Senior management is stuck up. Work direction changes constantly. Leadership spoon feeds employees like they are idiots that need to be baby sat.

    Advice to Management

Get off your high horse. The workforce is compelled to bow down to senior management as if they are royalty. In the grand scheme of things, this isn't a big operation. You're not Steve Jobs!

    Pros

    They treat their employees well.
    On-site clinic
    Well oiled machine.

    Cons

After working elsewhere, I'm not sure safety was their #1 priority.
At the time, they didn't understand LEAN.

    Advice to Management

Invest in training employees at all levels. It would have greater payoff than investing in capital.

I worked at Encore Wire (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay. Many perks for management and up. If you're caucasian, this company is perfect for you.

    Cons

Calls itself a "Conservative" company with a "unique culture". Favors Caucasians over minorities. Miscommunication. They say one thing but actually mean something else. They tell interns at the beginning there is no guarantee of a full time position after graduation, yet expect the intern to work as if he "yearns" a position with the company. Says they care about their employees, yet if something happens in the personal life of that person that it affects their work, they are quicker to fire rather than work with the employee.

    Advice to Management

Stop being racist. Stop being indirect. Have more sympathy for employees. There is more to life than just work.

    Not much to put here

    Cons

Giving advice is a waste of time, arrogance prevents management from listening

I have been working at Encore Wire full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Steady, full time, 40 plus hour work weeks. Most of the guys I work with have been with the company for over 10 years. Full benefits with 401K and I really like the on site doctors office. It is so much easier than taking the kids somewhere else, no waiting.

    Cons

I had heard the work was unbearable but it is actually very automated and pretty clean. It is hot during the summer, but this is Texas. They have plenty of fans to keep the air circulating inside the plants.

    Advice to Management

Growing company that has never had a layoff. That is a good thing.

    Pros

They give you 72 hours a week. If you can be ON TIME 6-7 days a week for 12 hours

You will be hired. see why below

    Cons

Your training class will start monday. It will have almost 20 to 30 people in it. They train EVERY monday. How can a company hire 30 people a week, forever, and still only have ~1200 employees? The math doesnt add up. The reason is the turnover for this job is about 4 weeks. You will work long enough doing terrible jobs (not operating a machine) until you want to quit, then they will put you on a machine, From there it's 50/50, if you meet quota and they like you, you'll stay till you quit. if you dont meet quota you'll go back to the terrible work, or if you DO meet quota and they dont like you you'lll go back to terrible work till you quit.

    Advice to Management

This is a company that doesn't care about its employee's. The turnover rate proves that. Plant 4 night manager WILL get his quota from all his drones, but he doesnt care about you, and he will actually tell you that.
