I worked at Federated Group full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Experience in all areas of retail
    Nice people
They require 20 words in this area, but really the pros for working here are limited.

    Cons

Company moral stunk. People were never appreciated for their work. The owners were so out of touch with who made them their money.
As long as you kiss the owners bottom you had a job. Disagree and you were out.

    Advice to Management

Sell the company or step down and let a younger generation revitalize the company with new ideas and enthusiasm. Retail world is changing and you need to also or you’ll never survive.

I worked at Federated Group full-time

    Pros

A very nice group of employees. That's about it.

    Cons

You can't afford to work here. No raises in 10 yrs. No respect from the owners. There is absolutely no perks to working here. If you need to make a living, this is not the place to go. Keep looking.

    "Not available"

    Pros

Nice parking, good view. Easy access off 53... Nice lunch spots
    .

    Cons

Old management, old people, old ideas, old building, old philosophies, old concept. And owned by old rich folk who refuse to share their wealth... Employees did not get a raise while I was there. Miserable environment and miserable employees because of upper management.

    Advice to Management

Simple.. Value your employees. Give cost of living increases. Offer any other no cost bonus. Get in the year 2016... Not the 1900's...

I worked at Federated Group full-time

    Pros

    - Opportunity to learn a lot if you just ask
    - Opportunity to have a real impact on company performance (under the right leader)
    - Network with notable industry members both inside and outside the company
    - Work with some of the most passionate people you'll ever meet

    Cons

    - Also work with some of the least passionate people you'll ever meet
    - "Glass ceiling" feeling with little information shared between teams and from leadership
    - Small company with limited opportunities for advancement
    - Ownership not fully focused on the future, constantly using the past to drive all decisions

    Advice to Management

Be more accessible, listen for ideas from all levels, promote from within, realize (and change) that the company is a stepping-stone and not a destination where people go to work

    Pros

Health benefits? Other than that, nothing

    Cons

Owners are too conservative - not a good thing. Raises are rarely given and if they are, it's barely anything. Hard work is not recognized and the owners believe they are your savior because they gave you a job, but if you ever decide to leave, they will immediately turn on you and call you ungrateful for what they have given you. The owners are very old and need to realize that they are not providing their employees with a good work environment. They expect 110% effort from all employees, but never recognize them for it. Overall work environment is extremely stressful and morale is so low you would think everybody at the company hated their lives for working there. I am not sure why half of the employees still work there because they can easily find a job somewhere else that will actually recognize them for their hard work and will give pay increases. Upper management needs reality to smack them in the face because the job market is bouncing back and they are going to lose every employee unless they change what they are doing. When I left the job, I did not receive one good bye from ANYONE in upper management. Not the right way to handle a business at all. They really need to bring in a person who can contribute new ideas for this company or they will get left in the dust.

    Advice to Management

Get your head out of your butts and ask employees how they feel about working there. Send out surveys to ask questions about morale, pay increases, how they feel overall about the company, etc. If you do not do this, you will lose every employee who is worth something to you.

I worked at Federated Group full-time

    Pros

It is a small company so I had interactions with people across all departments

    Cons

Because it is a small company the pay was very small compared to the amount of work I did on a day to day basis. I wore several peoples hats on a given day and the opportunity for promotion and advancement was very low. Also, people have not had raises in years so employees come off as complacent and lazy sometimes. I honestly wonder why some people still work there because the environment isn't the ideal type for people who want to advance within their fields. If you want to have the same position for years and same pay then this might just be the place for you.

    Advice to Management

More attention to workers who are not part of management. Better pay. The pay is NOT competitive at all compared to other employers in the industry.
