Think twice about working for this company.

Pros

Small company, able to work from home, competitive pay.

Cons

There is a serious lack of leadership and communication at this company. They follow an authoritarian style, will micromanage you, and won't communicate effectively. Lack respect of personal time and disregard new ideas.

Pros

Working for Fitsmallbusiness.com has been a great experience. Here are the main pros I have experienced working for the company: 1. Bosses that see me as more than just a business asset Marc and David are some of the most balanced bosses I have ever had. They know when to joke around and just be a friend and when to challenge and lead. I think this is probably because they have been employees themselves and know what it is like working for somebody else. If we were to have a big work get-together, it would be something I would be excited about instead of dreading. That's not something every employee can say about their job. 2. I get the satisfaction of knowing I am working for a Business that is about more than just the bottom line Although Marc and David are gifted entrepreneurs, Fit Small Business is not about just making the most money. There is also a pride in our reputation and a desire to help small business owners find what is truly the best fit for their business. This is an awesome culture to work in. As a writer/reviewer, I truly feel I have the freedom to recommend the company/business that will be the best option for the small business owner. It is a lot better than working for a company whose top dogs make changes to every article to ensure that the recommendation endorses the provider with the best referral/affiliate rate. 3. Great Co-workers All of the people I work with are professional, courteous, and good at what they do. It really challenges me and makes me stay on my toes to keep up. Good stuff. 4. The excitement of working for a business that is going places Fit Small Business is destined for great things. The leadership and employees are in place to really make the business grow, and the growing monthly traffic numbers and happy hustle-and-bustle testify to how the business is expanding. 5. Flexibility I work remotely for Fit Small Business and there is a lot of flexibility. Some days I work mornings, some afternoons. It just depends on what my personal schedule looks like. I'm sure it works out a little differently for people who actually work in our main office, but I know from what they have said that they get a lot of flexibility as well. It is awesome to basically make your own schedule. And, when I am asked to be available for weekly meetings and such, it does not bother me at all. Some structure is good. 6. I could go on, but I think you get the idea.

Cons

There is not really much that comes to mind. In the beginning, when I was first hired as a writer, there were sometimes some conflicts of opinion between Marc and David, about how an article should be written or whether or not it was good enough to publish. That was a little frustrating. But, that was really only an issue for the first 2-3 months I worked for Fit Small Business. Some of it, was just the natural growing pains of the business and also me learning and adapting my writing style to fit the Fit Small Business Brand and Voice.

Pros

I like working as a remote writer for Fit Small Business due to the daily contact with my editor, flexible schedule, great pay, cool-vibe culture (lots of millennials), and benefits.

Cons

My home office is a long way from New York where the office staff reside.
