    I worked at Fives full-time

    Pros

I can't think of a single positive thing to say about this toxic organization. Just say no and keep looking.

    Cons

Clueless, indifferent upper management. Petty, inflexible rules are rigidly enforced. Bullying, rudeness and incivility are common place. No work life balance; salaried employees must work 9 hour days and are pressured to work more. You will not be treated like a professional there; good people don't last; they leave because of the toxic corporate culture. Overall, lots of unhappy people working in an unpleasant, unprofessional environment. Don't join their ranks!

    Pros

Work/Life Balance, Flexible Work Hours, Interesting Work. Benefits are fairly good.

    Cons

Poor compensation and no raises even when company is doing well. Managers are clueless about the state of the company and completely disconnected. They continue to keep hiring more managers but not replacing the engineers, fabricators, assemblers and other specialists who really drive the company. Morale is atrocious. President is never here, gives off the vibe he simply doesn’t care about what happens here aside from making more money and decreasing costs/overhead. Terrible environment compared to what it used to be before the manager changes/shift from a big layoff last year.

    Advice to Management

A large number of employees across many groups here in Cleveland have been in process of finding new work for months now. It’s time to really do some damage control and fix morale, give fair wages and hire the help needed.

    Pros

Great hours when you need them the most (holidays). Great team building, lot of hours to make lots of $$.

    Cons

The holidays can be lonely on the road. Hanging out with only your crew for weeks to months can lead to tensions building without proper communication.

    Advice to Management

Keep on doing what you're doin. There will always be more work to be done and people need to support their families.

    Pros

Fives North American provides great opportunities to learn. Highly experienced and knowledgable employees actively work to transfer knowledge to and train others. It's informal, but effective.
If you have the skills and are will to accept the responsibility, you be given many opportunities to work on, and complete, meaningful tasks and projects. Projects will take advantage of your strengths and skills, but will also push you to seek solutions beyond your current experience. Guidance is provided as needed by managers, executives and functional area experts.
The management philosophy expects excellence but also treats everyone fairly. Management is very open and forthcoming about corporate goals, initiatives and expectations.

    Cons

Shallow management structure limits opportunities to move up in the ranks.

    Advice to Management

Priorities get shifted a little too often, making it harder to focus on and complete projects that have already been started.
