I worked at GradImages full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fellow employees are great and wonderful to work with.

Generous desk space and nice computers.

    Cons

At will employment – in a nutshell you can be fired for just about any reason, including someone not liking you. Turnover rate is high and people are fired more frequently than not, very unstable.

EXTREME micromanaging style from multiple managers.

Managers do not have the skills or qualifications required to do their job. You are expected to do your managers work along with your own.

Management is very gossipy and prone to spreading rumors.

Work environment is generally negative and stressful as a result of poor management; you can usually find someone crying if you walk around.

Communication is non-existent, you are expected to learn information through the grape-vine; which results in rumors and incorrect information.

Workload is excessively heavy making it near impossible to do your job successfully. You will work more overtime than the vacation time you are allotted during high volume times.

Company likes to cut corners on employee pay, staffing, and equipment.

    Advice to Management

Take classes on management techniques and learn the skills needed for your job so your employees are not doing your work. Value your employees and treat them like human beings.

    Pros

Good first job out of college to get your feet wet. Down to earth people in the office. Client Visits.

    Cons

Little room for moving up. Management isn't transparent on happenings with changes that effect employees. Not flexible on day to day schedule

    Advice to Management

To attract more talent be more flexible.

I have been working at GradImages part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great group of photographers, managers are friendly and helpful, client centered company that hasn't forgotten about its workers.

    Cons

seasonal hours, best opportunities for work are if you're able to travel (tough if you have little kids).

I worked at GradImages part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedules, albeit seasonal; most co-workers are enjoyable to work with.

    Cons

I can only speak to my experience with the region in California, but they are unprofessional. Pay is not that great, but I was there for the learning experience. What I learned is how to NOT manage people in basically a point and shoot operation. There was poor communication from team leads to team members for setting up the venues to run smoothly (events are fast paced and understaffed) and the management/office staff was ineffectual to handle issues which often tended to favor office politics or lead egos.

I worked at GradImages part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company offers temporary summer jobs for multiple positions which is great income for college students. I was a customer service rep and handled sales as well as customer complaints. The company gave reps the flexibility to easily make sales, adjust prices, and please customers with refunds and reorders. The company empowers and trusts its employees.

    Cons

Very little training before thrown into the fire. Had 2 hours of training (not hands on) and a guide on greetings, procedures, etc...

I have been working at GradImages part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Extra seasonal money, gaining experience in photography

    Cons

No communication between managers, team captains and photographers.

    Advice to Management

Management made employment status inactive without even communicating the reason. I had a family emergency and couldn't make it to ONE event, let team captain know, who didn't communicate that with the regional manager, and he didn't bother to call me before "deactivating" my employment. Ridiculous- completely unprofessional. Try giving your employees (especially ones who have worked there for more than three years) the benefit of the doubt and maybe a phone call.

I worked at GradImages full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's a casual work environment for the most part. Lots of people worked there who had no skills whatsoever and really didn't deserve the job.

    Cons

They don't pay well at all, and so you work with a lot of idiots who that's all they can get. They take advantage of their employees and expect unrealistic goals while charging their customers through the nose, and passing none of it on to the employees.

    Advice to Management

    Grow a backbone.
