  1. "Top of Asian agencies but not the top agency"

    Pros

One big Pro is that you get to work with Fortune500 clients, it makes your resume look good, even though it's Asian Media with small campaigns. Peers are great to work with, fun people, and some are really smart, but the turnaround rate for smart people is almost 100%, anyone who wants to be better eventually just left. A lot of people are not good at mentoring so you made yourself a self-starter. Sometimes they will have some fun campaigns because the clients are big. They are pretty much the best Asian agency here in America. They are pretty transparent in general so I appreciate that they communicate what they expect each year and any changes coming up. They rarely fires people and value loyalty.

    Cons

Frustration is the first word that comes to mind. Some people can be really unprofessional, and we all know who they are. Upper management plays favoritism, people who do well are usually the ones who manage up. Managements failed to direct, lack of knowledge, it frustrated a lot of people because people don't know what they do besides sitting there and fishing for ideas. They value loyalty more than capabilities.

    Advice to Management

It's time to rethink Asian consumers' value, it reflects your agency's value. Please do a better job at branding your agency, you have changed your logo for so long but you never managed to change this Glassdoor page logo. You need to know your employees better, recognize what they do well on and tell them what they need to work on improving, they will appreciate that.

    Pros

Some of the employees are a joy to work with.

    Cons

Management are mostly two-faced, overpaid, and talentless.
The agency tries to be up to speed, but are definitely behind by 20 years.
Everyone looks out only for themselves.

A lot of responsibility is given from an early stage, providing space for growth and opportunity. You feel like you and your work matters - you'll never feel isolated in any way! Company culture's great.

    Cons

As a medium sized multicultural agency, opportunities are there but may be limited compared to bigger agencies

Sometimes slow moving and a lot of meetings to attend weekly.

    I worked at Intertrend full-time

    Pros

    - the biggest Asian American/Asian ad agency (which is a very niche market)
    - has Fortune 500 clients
    - some ad agency perks, like nicer/more interesting work environment than traditional corporate
    - some great co-workers

    Cons

    - LOW PAY
    - low mobility
    - low morale
    - very political
    - managers don't help you grow
    - not transparent to employees, some things are even shady (i.e. all the positive reviews on the company were written on the same day, same time frame? just coincidence?)

    Advice to Management

    - start to really care about your employees
    - don't be passive aggressive
    - don't only choose to hear things you want to hear and find reasons to deny what you don't want to hear

    Pros

Good client roster & because small agency, you get to experience more as a junior level employee. OK work/balance for most part.

    Cons

    - low pay
    - low morale
    - lack of company culture
    - low mobility
    - very political
    - hiring based on connection & not experience
    - doesn't mirror how typical agencies function (not necessarily a con, but should be stated)
    - lack of passionate people (there are definitely those who are, but also many that seem to be working there for the sake of having a job)

    Advice to Management

start taking care of your employees

I worked at Intertrend full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I got to learn a lot about the advertising industry through interTrend. The company's culture is very family oriented and thats one of the things I liked the most in a working environment. I got to meet a lot of impactful people in the industry and be inspired by all the game changers that the agency is connected to.

    Cons

Work hours might be a bit rough sometimes, but it comes with the job. On the bright side, you learn a lot and also bond closely with all your co-workers.

    Advice to Management

Might need to hire 1 or 2 more people in each department with all the additional work coming in.

    Pros

collaborative, friendly, lots of hard working staff, Fortune 500 clients, small company means you get to work on a lot of different things, Fortune 500 clients are great but the company also does a lot of work for pro bono clients which shows they care about the community, especially Long Beach.

    Cons

nothing that isn't true for all ad agencies...if you're looking for a routine/predictable day type of job, don't look here.

    Advice to Management

get to know the young staff because there might be hidden talents there.
