- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
Excellent benefits and culture. Forward thinking leadership Associate centered activities and events Regular merit increases and reviews A lot of training and opportunities to learn
Cons
Advancement is very limited Difficult to change jobs once you are there Definitely a favoritism when it comes to who gets to move forward , almost as though it was designed they go though certain steps in order to prove they started from the bottom. Even if you have proven skills, you need a degree to land the job.

It’s nothing like the reviews of the corporate company.

Many of the benefits available are really good for being in a dealership. They know how to hire great people.
Cons
Management could be a lot better. They take a reactive approach where leadership could greatly improve. The pay for the amount of work is made up in “benefits.” It’s like waiting for a tax return on money already earned. Expect to work harder until you realize upper management doesn’t show appreciation for the effort. If they did, you would feel like they are working just as hard.

Poorly managed corporate dealership ran by the HR department
Sep 19, 2021 - Sales ManagerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
JM entices its associates with a great benefits package as part of its entrapment of the talent-less; inexpensive healthcare, dental, 401k, short term and long term disability coverage and profit sharing.....I'll talk about the latter below.
Cons
I worked at this store for almost a decade. It started off nice but went downhill sharply half way during my tenure. During that time the number of associates I saw churn through this dealership was staggering and close to record setting even for an industry with high turnover. The political theater was the worst I've seen in a dealership. The work environment toxic. You were either in the boys club or not. The turnover was high for one main reason .....the management team and the HR department.....two of the worst I've ever seen! Did I mention the (well) below industry standard pay plans that changed 4-6 times a year, each one worse then the last? How about the facility, owned by one of the wealthiest corporations in the country, which is quite literately falling apart and was last overhauled 20 year ago? Imagine selling brand new Lexus after sunset by flashlight because your store owner is too cheap to replace the lot lighting.....I did it! How about the GM who was on vacation for 10 years..... and clocked less then a days work each month... must have been nice while I was there working 90 hour workweeks! How about the corporate parent who preached integrity and honesty yet hired a bunch of professional scam artists in management who installed their 'friend's' detail company or body shop supplier just to get a cut of the action. You might ask who was left actually working at the store.... it was none other then the talent-less middle-of-the-road 'company man' (or woman) who were just there for the benefits, living each day just below the political radar. Any one with top talent....and I worked with a LOT....the top 1% of the industry....left normally by the 16th pay plan cut or by the time the boys club teamed up seeing them as a threat and pushed them out the door. Say one thing wrong or maybe you missed one part of your pay matrix (rolling average or PVR or anything minor) and you were sure to be 'written up'....and you can be sure that write-up would come just before your eligible for a promotion, bonus or merit increase which would ensure you wouldn't get it. Get 3 write-ups in 6 months and you'd win a GSM/Director beat-down session about how you were about to be terminated if you didn't become a cool-aid drinking company man and fit in the boys club that ran the show. The mind games they played were hysterical yet they seemed to work on most of the lower IQ staff. The HR department......yup all 7 of them.....were the ones who actually ran the store. Might there be something seriously wrong with your store if you need 7 HR reps...oh YES. 'Management' if you could call it that, was simply terrified to actually manage because anyone was free to make up baseless false accusations and report you the HR department who would be sure to assume you were guilty until proven innocent. Now lastly I mentioned I would talk about the profit sharing....sounds nice yes....what a great corporate ploy to keep people employed after underpaying them for the prior year....and best of all how about the 'job elimination' that would occur just one day before November 1st....the annual bonus cutoff.....isn't 'at-will' employment great?
