I worked at Mactus Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

A gem of a company, great practice directors who truly try their best and have both their clients and employees best intentions at heart.

    Cons

Needs to diversity and find more business outside of Microsoft.

    Pros

They can help you get a contracting position, but once you have your job, Mactus does not advocate for you

    Cons

CORRUPT! My manager at Microsoft gave me raises but Mactus kept the money without telling me. They steal from employees.

    Pros

Interesting work, but you have to find your own contracts for the most part.

    Cons

Owner is sketchy - it always seems he is trying to trick you. Company makes huge margins but tends to nickel-and-dime contractors over rate and benefits (e.g., vacation is use or lose but since you never have time to use it, it is a benefit in name only - don't be fooled). Far less transparent and trustworthy than other vendor agencies. I suggest finding your own gig and taking it someplace else.

    Advice to Management

Be more transparent and fair with your vendors - they are the ones that allow you to make that cash hand over fist.

I have been working at Mactus Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The Delivery team are brilliant and connected people with a passion for their work. You will not find a more prepared team of delivery managers in the business. The office team is a collection of really lovely people, bonded together to do the best they can. Even through very poor management, the team hold each other up.

    Cons

The company is poorly managed by a self-important president, who does not believe rules apply to him, and who has a serious case of ADD when it comes to the focus he places on his company. It is unstable and feels very much like a start up, though it has been in business almost 10 years. In a year, the office has turned over 13 employees!!!

    Advice to Management

They do not take advice. It has been given by many different sources, but ignored at every turn.

    Pros

I got to work with great people and work on new, exciting projects

    Cons

    - Didn't receive a raise during my 2 years working for Mactus
    - When I left, I found out that my client did ask to give me a raise but I never saw it from Mactus
    - I don't trust them as our pay rate for clients was very high and we were receiving hardly any of that money. Their reasoning was because they were paying for benefits; however MS was really paying for the benefits from the amount they paid to have us work for them.
    - There is too much of being kept in the dark
    - Mactus doesn't want you to convert to full-time because they loose the money

I have been working at Mactus Group (More than a year)

    Pros

Three weeks PTO (my other 2 firms had no vacation), helpful people, seem to care about me, get paid twice per month (many consulting firms only pay once monthly and it is delayed), bonus for referring business, $500 training reimbursement, high end laptop.

    Cons

Contracts can end unexpectedly and the account manager didn't know.

    Advice to Management

Keep consultants aware of changes with their clients.

I worked at Mactus Group (More than a year)

    Pros

management is generally nice, smart co-workers, reasonable salaries, access to some good teams within Microsoft, gifts around the holiday.,

    Cons

    1) Follow-on engagements: Mactus needs to work more proactively and systematically to find follow-on engagements prior to the end of your current engagement. In my case, it was clear that little effort had been made to identify follow-on opportunities. 2) Vacation: a clause in the Mactus employment contract states that if you don't take accrued vacation before the end of an engagement, you will lose any earned vacation days. In my case, the workload was so heavy I had no time for vacation during the assignment..I argued my case with management on this issue and was 'given' a few days of earned vacation at the end of an engagement, with the message that management was doing me a 'favor'. 3) Pay for work done: your contract also states that if the client doesn't pay Mactus for your work, you will in turn not be paid--even if (as was the case with me) you did the work on time, and the client acknowledged that the work was of high quality.

    Advice to Management

While your staff is working on a current engagement, proactively and systematically prospect for follow-on assignments. Revise clauses in employment contract dealing with accrued vacation and pay for work accomplished.
