I worked at Meridian Services full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Wages are decent for just coming out of school. You learn the basics of a ton of different systems fast.

    Cons

Documentation is #1. There's a lot of it and the numbers are clearly a huge motivator for management. HR is not helpful either. I have seen multiple people with disabilities leave after they were given unfair treatment.

    Advice to Management

Work on taking better care of employees.

I worked at Meridian Services full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great clients!I absolutely LOVED my clients and most of my coworkers..... I miss my clients and coworkers very much!

    Cons

Management keeps bad workers and gets rid of the good ones! They PRETEND they care about you but will drop you like a hot potato if they decide they don't like you anymore. VERY " clicky". I've called the Executive Manager 5 times and haven't received a call back.

    Advice to Management

Actually LISTEN when an employee is trying to explain something! Look at past reviews( mine were excellent) and circumstances that may have lead a good employee to misunderstand what their manager told them.( you've gone through 3 managers in a year!)

I worked at Meridian Services full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good for someone starting out their Social Work career. Flexible schedule. Bonus opportunities for case coverage.

    Cons

Lack of communication between upper management and the direct management. No room for advancement unless you are friends w someone in management. Lack of employee recognition. Not able to work from home like their competitors. Be clear on your raise scale and how raises are earned. Training improved within the last year but when I started over 3 years ago I was thrown into my position and never offered the same opportunities...

    Advice to Management

Take the focus off volunteering and put it on staff appreciation. Upper management needs to show more appreciation to case managers. Consider easing up on the work from home policy. Makes the teams feel more like a team and less like a competition. Stop increasing case loads.

I have been working at Meridian Services full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Flexible scheduling: You can begin your day anywhere from 6:30 to 9:30 in the morning and leave anywhere from 2:30 to 5:30 depending on when you arrived! Bonus Incentives: If you work hard or put in extra time, you'll be eligible for countless bonuses, which isn't typical for most salaried positions. Small Teams: You get to work on teams that are 8-12 people; where you'll be able to work with your team to gain...

    Cons

Sometimes case loads can get high when multiple case manager's from a single team leave. However, you receive bonuses for covering cases and often other teams will help cover the cases!

I have been working at Meridian Services full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great place to start your social work career and get your foot in the door.

    Cons

Constant revolving door of employees so there is lots of room for advancement due to this. Can easily and quickly work your way up from being a case manager, to a team lead, to a program director, to a CM II due to high staff turnover. Was told I wouldn’t have more than 75 clients, I was sitting at over 100 due to coverage work when I left. Management are not considerate of your work life balance and encourage working...

    Advice to Management

Consider letting case managers work from home a couple of times a week, it would increase work life balance and reduce stress amongst case managers.

I worked at Meridian Services full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Higher wage for harder positions Adheres and complies to state laws for care of disabled individuals. Compassionate workers across the board.

    Cons

Absolutely worked to death. I worked in q crisis home and we desperately needed more people on each shift, to the downfall of our personal safety. Multiple staff members, including myself, making ER trips from injuries caused by assaults from clients. Due to the desperation for staff, management was pretty ruthless with any time off for any reason, including work-related injuries/illnesses. Not enough pay for the level...

    Advice to Management

Raise the wages for your employees so you retain them. Care about their well being; you can't take care of others if you aren't taking care of yourself. You will also have more people to staff your homes.

I worked at Meridian Services full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Was able to move up in the company quickly and gained a lot of experience. Positions are extremely flexible and could make your own schedule and had very competitive pay.

    Cons

Meridian does not value the people that they have. Instead of trying to focus on retention and keeping people that they had, they grew too fast, causing a LOT of turnover. Case coverage was nonstop and people were overworked without getting much appreciation while doing so.

    Advice to Management

Reward people for going above and beyond in their roles and don't focus so much on committee building. Listen to suggestions as I felt that upper management was very far removed from the actual work being done.
