I have been working at Metropolitan Group full-time

    Pros

Highly committed to employees in terms of professional growth, and fosters an inclusive environment where all can thrive. Working with social change clients is very rewarding, far more so than more corporate environments. As a small firm, it offers many opportunities that you might not get at larger firms.

    Cons

Workload can be heavy at times.

    Advice to Management

Keep up MG University and all the great diversity and inclusion work.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Great view from the office, lots of different types of projects to work on, most of the senior staff is excellent. The environmental and public health practice areas are the best to work in and doing the best work of the company.

    Cons

MG would be a much nicer place to work if employees had more autonomy (right now all work is heavily micromanaged) and the leadership team was willing to listen to feedback from employees. The company is very top-heavy and resistant to change. Given their relatively small size, they should be much more nimble and advanced.

    Pros

    Work life balance, compensation, Portland

    Cons

Terrible management. People are promoted based upon looking good vs. doing good.

I have been working at Metropolitan Group full-time

    Pros

Mission-focus -- sole focus on building a just and sustainable world
Passionate people who care deeply about changing the world
Expertise in the application of strategic communication to social purpose
Variety of clients and projects to work on
    Opportunties to work on teams

    Cons

Billable hour structure, as with most communication agencies
Occasional long hours/stress (periodic, not continual)

    Advice to Management

Continue to diversify leadership and staff.
