Pros

Good benefits, work life balance, basically impossible to get fired for poor performance (if you consider that a pro). If you want a company you can coast at, and get away with it, this is a good pick. If you care about your work and are bothered by bureaucracy and inefficiency, you may be frustrated. Probably not much worse than any other company. I imagine a lot of the issues here are common in the modern workplace.

Cons

VERY poor collaboration between groups/departments. Excessive "silo-ing". Practically no training or onboarding for employees. Even less knowledge transfer from older employees on their way out. Excessive reliance on newly implemented ticketing systems rather than building productive relationships/communication b/w groups. Many roles are becoming "burn-out" positions with high loads of repetitive and uninteresting work, and management seems to be doubling down on creating these sorts of roles. I like to call it a "digital assembly line." (this method could be useful in certain circumstances, but is largely not conducive to the work our company does) Culture of people not wanting to share information or collaborate. Poorly distributed workloads throughout company - either feast or famine.

Pros

You don't have to show up and work to get paid! Many examples.

Cons

My hands are tied is the most used statement at this company. I mean the lead time for customers is crazy. I have never had so many people say that isn't my job, when it clearly is their job. Just have another 15 meetings about it. People seem content just to have a job. Then they send you to a site around the world, to sit there some more.

Pros

Colleagues Benefits Advancement Opportunities International Opportunities Mon-Fri (for the most part)

Cons

Work/life flexibility promoted but not supported Mixed messages on job assignments and responsibilities Lack of training Experienced staff expecting new hires to understand and perform the job at their level. Culture of negativity Always “on edge”, never felt comfortable going to work Most significant con: Hire and Fire cycles. Major red flag during my first all employee meeting when I found out how many employees were on their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th round of employment with Metso. Most people were laughing during introductions when someone stood up to say they were on their 3rd round. Not sure why that would be considered comical as this highlights a lack of job security with an employer.
