I worked at OmniSource full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Promotes from within whenever possible. Nearly zero layoffs even in bad economic times. Competitive benefits packages. Competent senior employees.

    Cons

Had some trouble holding on to employees, but that may be due to the industry in general. It can be dirty, harsh, and uncomfortable, so it was not for everyone.

    Advice to Management

There are few younger, college age employees in the company. While a few interns rolled through, there were not many who stayed on. Adding benefits, such as college tuition reimbursement, could have a positive affect on the retention of this age group.
