I have been working at OrePac full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Well known company with reputation in industry.

    Cons

Can be stressful, don't always get much support from management

    Advice to Management

If you say you'll do something, do it.

    I worked at OrePac full-time

    Pros

You can set your own schedule to a degree. Management is pretty hands off as long as you are not causing any problems.

    Cons

Not really any chance of promotion. Raises are pretty rare and are pretty minimal. Not much in the way of mentorship and guidance from leaders.

I worked at OrePac full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

CEO is a great man and I respect him, along with the Tyvek Sales mgr and Sales Manager in Sacramento. They are the only reason I give any credit to this company at all.

    Cons

Had my compensation package changed three times in an 8 month span with each change taking more and more commission out of our pockets and into managements hands, as managers get a kick back for cutting costs. They make you front all company related business expenses and only reimburse 70% of the federal rate for mileage. Too many middle managers looking for ways to cut costs than how to support the individuals that are promoting the company for them. The lumberhead approach will be eventually what strips them of one of the largest national brands in the construction industry.

    Advice to Management

Please train your sales people on CRM and spend the money to upgrade the website and the digitial equipment you provide the salesforce with. Your other product distributors do a much better job because they spend the money and it shows.

I worked at OrePac full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Well known name in the building materials distribution industry... but that could be a bad thing also.

    Cons

Constantly changing management. If your a crappy manager, they will just shuffle you around to new fancy named positions. If your friends with the Hart's, you will go far, if not, good luck! Everyone else is expendable. Constantly changing compensation packages to suite the profitability of the company and benefit of the management. Management makes incentive pay for cutting costs on the sales team, and that also includes salaries. Management is full of a bunch of "YES MEN" no spine to fight for what is right for the employees. There is soo much management now that one wonders if this is a government agency now rather than a private organization. Micro-management is out of control.

    Advice to Management

none... you've got it made if your friends with the Hart's. Just plan on lots of hunting and skiing trips. If you don't like that sort of stuff, you wont last.

    I worked at OrePac full-time

    Pros

The best reason to work for tis company is because its a family owned. Working for family owned companys its much better than private owned, relationship between eployer and employee is closer, also they look up for their employees needs professional and personal. Benefits are much better that a prive company, sometimes they offer school grant program to helpr the employees's kids when they're ready for college.

    Cons

The bad part of working at Oreac, since this is a Millwork wood products, every year during winters season job slows down du to the weather climate. Construction slows down due to the rain and other climate issues during this time, that's the main reason why affects the company as well.

    Pros

    None that I could see.

    Cons

Working for them, their ALL management is only concerned about making friends and talking others down to make themselves look better. Due to their own lack of brains!

    Advice to Management

Re-look at your personnel, do not let others run your company.

I have been working at OrePac full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

No sign of slowing down. Lots of work year round. Offers full benefits with vacation time accruing by the hour.

    Cons

Slow to get a raise. Almost too many hours of work for the time allotted. Really no time for yourself during the week. Very physical work on top of daily stress can be exhausting.

    Advice to Management

Revised time of work orders and production is a must. Customer satisfaction is gained soley through quickly meeting deadlines instead of ensuring a quality product. Training is minimal which results in a revolving employees. Planning ahead would prove beneficial.

    Pros

Orepac pays very well.and they tell you when you have done a great job.and some of the managers are nice..

    Cons

You have to watch your back at all times The operations Manager will take advantage of his position and will give you a hard time ,jest because you are there, and the Warehouse Manger is the same way.The Operation Manager and the Warehouse Manager always take advantage of there Position.

    Advice to Management

I think corporate / Wilson ville Oregon /Orepac needs to take a look at there "Managers"
Instead Of Laying off there employee. If they want to cut cost.Maybe they would consider laying off some of those over payed Manager.

    Thank You.

I have work Orepac Building Products for 16 Years.
