    Positive Outlook

I worked at PPIC as an intern

    Pros

I really enjoyed working with the folks at PPIC. They were willing to provide mentorship and guidance while giving me room to pursue projects I developed on my own.

    Cons

As an intern, you sometimes come into projects that are most of the way done. Make sure you ask lots of questions during the interview to establish whether this is the case.

    Advice to Management

Keep hosting informal events between interns and current staff members. They are great learning experiences, especially for recognizing the many career paths available after graduate school.

    Pros

academic environment, smart people, lots of time off, good benefits

    Cons

little room for career growth, silos between departments, some research groups are difficult to work with, low salary

    Advice to Management

need much more focus on and training in management, a typical problem when PhDs who are focused on their own careers manage research staff
