The Challenge and Support Needed to Grow
May 3, 2022 - Principal in Dallas, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Very focused on career development Designed for internal collaboration rather than competition with open salaries, clear levels and expectations, and openness around what all individuals are working on from college hires to top leaders Low politics for trying out new things Demonstrated will to choose developing people to their greatest potential over just increasing revenue/profits Very low power distance across the company - it's easy to get a meeting with the CEO or anyone else in the C-suite if you have something to discuss and everyone is more focused on helping you get your ideas out there rather than explain why they won't work, etc. Strong emphasis on D&I, bringing your whole self to work, meeting people where they are at
Cons
Not for people who aren't looking to move forward in their career - parking isn't favored It's hard to level people coming in from the outside accurately - can end up over or under which isn't obvious until you have some experience with the company There is a limit to how fast you can go - 1 level per yr No direct bonuses based on performance, the primary incentive is moving up in levels/salaries

Pros
- Vision for the company with recent acquisitions is extremely positive - Mission is about developing people to their fullest potential - Challenging work
Cons
Use of holacracy is well-intended but doesn’t create a results-oriented culture that ensures accountability

Pros
Large pay increases can come quickly if you are a brand new developer. The work is interesting. Lots of great people. Great benefits. Culture of self improvement.
Cons
Woke culture is being pushed on employees by upper management. The evaluation matrix for determining an employee’s promotion/level is extremely ambiguous and open to interpretation so even if you excel in an area or do a job better than someone making 50% more than you there is always a reason to tell you that you are being paid fairly or in other words, put you in your place. A fair number of upper management are out of touch with lower level employees. I recall being in an unpaid meeting where a Vice President gave a pointless presentation about a retreat that the VPs had and how much fun it was. After the meeting I reached out to a coworker and asked if they got anything out of the meeting and they said they felt it was pointless as well. I’d like to reiterate it was an unpaid meeting we were expected to attend. No offense to the good people who work here but this company will never retain top talent because the best talent will feel hindered/frustrated by the promotion process.

Pros
A strong focus on the development of each person. Pariveda invests a respectively larger amount of effort in growing their people. For those who are willing to lean in, accept the feedback, and commit to growing , it’s a fantastic place. Additionally, the benefits are comparatively very good.
Cons
The flip side of being so focused on the growth of people is the requirement for those people to step into uncomfortable situations, accept the feedback (critical or otherwise), and make changes to improve the way the company believes you need to. Regardless of how much you think you know, there is always more to learn, and Pariveda strongly encourages you to do so. Though the framework Pariveda uses for growth is incredibly clear, one might think they are being pigeon-holed into a particular role. Lastly, for those who value money over career growth, this may not be the place for you.

All about growing people
Oct 18, 2022 - Vice President in Denver, CORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The biggest thing I'd say about Pariveda is that the company is true to its mission of growing people to its full potential. I heard this before joining, but I've been so impressed with how much the purpose comes through in priorities and decision making. Also, I came in through an acquisition in 2021 and have been very happy with Pariveda's approach to our integration. They've been very focused on getting to know us as individuals and as an organization so we can bring the best of both organizations together. There's been a ton of thoughtfulness and care that my friends outside of the firm say is unparalleled in professional services M&A. Pariveda doesn't do a ton of acquisitions, but I think the thoughtful approach speaks volumes about Pariveda's culture, specifically its desire to learn and grow and take care of people.
Cons
Pariveda gives people a lot of autonomy on what they want to work on as well as the ability to hold multiple roles. That's not the con, it is actually cool; the challenge is that it takes time as a new person to know how to navigate the organization. It takes time to figure out who does what, who owns what, and how to accomplish things. I'm almost a year in and figuring it out now.

Decent place to work
Mar 17, 2023 - Consultant Software Engineer in Seattle, WARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
There is a good work life balance and emphasis on employee mental health
Cons
Work is highly project dependent and doesn't allow for much specialization in a single tech stack.

Pros
It's hard to overstate how much time and energy Pariveda spends on growing and understanding people. One of the most fulfilling things about my job is focusing on where each individual person on my team wants to go and figuring out the opportunities I can craft to help get them there. I enjoy how motivated and cooperative people become at Pariveda. You don't have to compete with your peers because of the way the organization is structured, so you open up a lot of room for people to just put everything on the table, which in turn helps build strong relationships. It probably sounds weird to say, but I think many of my coworkers from past projects at Pariveda actually are my friends, and we still meet up as a group and grab dinner together years after our project ended. Separately, the benefits and the work/life balance are really good, and we seem to have more opportunities for work than we can actually staff people on, which means we get to pick the more interesting projects. I really appreciate that Pariveda will turn down a project if the work isn't interesting or won't support our mission to grow our people.
Cons
It feels like we spend longer on the same project than we used to. It's not really bad, I just personally like more variety. Management could do a better job taking decisive actions and communicating their reasoning in a way that is easy for less academic people to understand. One other negative is we can be so focused on trying to help someone who may not even want the help that things can slide towards the detriment of others. It is rare, but it does happen.
