Every part of this organization requires structural and cultural change, especially at the top. Employees each do the work of 5+ people (conservatively). Management works you to the bone and then demands that you keep grinding. Staff turnover is atrocious, as is treatment of staff generally. Managment actually seems proud of being short staffed.
The relationship between PSBI and the volunteer association is troubling and follows an outdated model, but their behavior is actively encouraged because they bring in revenue. Volunteers are allowed to run amok and have as much, if not more, power than director-level staff.
Staff concerns are blown off and ignored, at best. At worst, staff is attacked and punished for disagreeing or raising concerns. Management gossips behind the backs of staff and also has outed sensitive personal and private medical information and then justified it by saying "well, you're more sympathetic to the volunteers now." Insurance coverage has been randomly dropped, as well.
In sum total, it might have once had the potential to live up to its founder's ideals, but ultimately fails to and tarnishes that legacy. It's a sinking ship and you deserve better.
