Pentagram Austin is where I learned impeccable graphic design skills under the guidance of incredibly lovely, patient, talented people.

    Cons

Gaining weight from the free lunches every day.

I worked at Pentagram Design full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Being in the center of the best design in the world, with the hardest working, funniest, smart people in the world. You will always interact with the Partners, which is one of the best parts about working here.

    Cons

Growth is an issue here if you are in a non-designer role, but that could change with time. The hours can be long, but at least there is flexibility in taking your work home if need be.

I have been working at Pentagram Design full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Looks great on the resume, top-shelf clients, talented people everywhere

    Cons

The shoddiest infrastructure I've ever encountered—from payroll to benefits to project management to HR. Flat structure can be interesting but frequently is problematic. Professional development nil.

    Pros

Becoming familiar with icons of design is very inspiring. Learning and interacting with them is the only reason this is worth it.

    Cons

Working with designers with a bloated ego can be truly painful. Count your blessings so that the team you work with wont have this issue. Experience at the company varies wildly from working under different partners. A lot of tasks as intern are menial. You could be learning, earning and doing more elsewhere. Work is outdated.

    Advice to Management

Evaluate success of work more critically. Recruit inspired designers interested in innovation, beyond pursuing the same idea that partners are proposing over and over. Watch out for predatorial employees.
