Pros

From time to time a good project opportunity would land at my feet that I was genuinely excited about. There are some really talented creatives on staff that I respected tremendously.

Cons

Good leaders in creative design agencies inspire their employees by fostering values that promote a work environment that is supportive, empathetic, and innovative. They lead by example and set trends rather than following them, always looking ahead to what's next. They are passionate and committed to their work and their employees, and they create a culture of openness that recognizes and rewards contributions and provides opportunities for growth and career development. However, at Pivot, the agency's values are merely hollow talking points and leadership is lacking across the board. Responses to reviews on Glassdoor reveal scripted and cookie-cutter replies to gloss over valid criticisms, indicating a failure to truly address employee concerns or demonstrate the sort of accountability they demand from employees. The inevitable reply to this review will be more of the same, with false apologies, subterfuge, regrets, and deflections. The physical office is sterile, cold, and unfriendly, lacking a soul or heart. The agency's ideas are unoriginal and well-worn, with no one discussing cutting-edge topics such as AI, blockchain, or Web 3.0. As a result, Pivot is failing to keep up with industry trends and is not positioning itself as the agency of tomorrow or today. Like many agencies of a bygone era, Pivot prioritizes productivity over employee comfort and well-being, making their wellness an obstacle rather than a priority, which is ironic as they recently rebranded themselves as a "wellness agency." Personal time is not respected, and the agency is actively maintaining poor practices and philosophies that are driving creatives away. As a former employee, I deeply regret investing so much of my time and effort into an agency that fails to prioritize its employees and lacks the visionary leadership necessary to succeed in the creative design industry.

We appreciate your candor and take all feedback to heart. We strive to create an open and supportive work environment where our employees can thrive. It’s clear your time at Pivot didn’t feel this way and we genuinely regret that was your experience. While it’s not easy to read, we respect your perspective and the transparency of this platform. Your comments covered a lot of ground. We’re electing not to respond to them point by point here. We feel it’s important to say this: Pivot isn’t perfect. But we do care deeply about our employees. We ask for their input routinely, through a variety of channels. We can’t and don’t implement every idea; that’s true for us and for all companies. However, we do carefully consider every concern and suggestion, and consistently implement many employee ideas, year after year. Employee feedback has made Pivot a better place to work. We’re thankful that most on our team feel the same way. As for your comments about our position on cutting-edge topics: Pivot has embraced, explored, and nimbly adapted to new trends and technology for more than three decades. We wouldn’t still be here if that weren’t the case. We’re proud of our longevity and resilience, particularly as a strong independent agency in an industry dominated by corporate holding companies. We thank you for the work and contribution you made during your time at Pivot. And while this may land as scripted to you, we mean it sincerely: we wish you the best and hope you find what you’re looking for in your next move. -Liz

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for Pivot. We are happy to hear that you had a great experience with management and that you found your one-on-one meetings to be helpful. We wish you had experienced a better work-life balance while employed here, and are sorry that we didn’t get the opportunity to help coach you through that. We understand that for entry-level employees the pace of agency life can be a struggle to adapt to initially, but we love to assist in finding efficiencies and help our team members prioritize. We wish you the best in your future endeavors and encourage you to reach out directly to us to provide any additional feedback you may want to share.

Pros

I have worked at several agencies and Pivot truly sets the bar for talented colleagues. Across all departments, the caliber of the employees is top notch. And not only are they smart, they are kind, caring and collaborative. The Executive Leadership team is also truly dedicated to retaining said talent so there is a focus on competitive benefits, salary and fostering a sense of community and fun. Beyond that, the ELT not only listens, but acts. They solicit feedback and proactively implement that feedback to consistently improve the agency. We recently implemented new agency work flow protocols in direct response to employee feedback. In addition to a talented internal team, Pivot is focused on wellness oriented clients who HELP the world be a better place. If you work at Pivot, you can rest assured that the work you contribute to is important and meaningful. And let’s be honest, agency life can be hard and it is certainly not for everyone. Deadlines and pressure are unavoidable in this line of work. However, the overall work/life balance is VERY fair and if you need help, help will be provided. There is also a very fair mentality in regards to life requirements outside of work. If you need to drop your kid at school or go to the dentist, as long as your work is handled and you have alerted your team, it is not a problem whatsoever.

Cons

Agency life can be unpredictable. If you are not someone who thrives in a fast paced environment and can easily change gears, this is not the right fit.
