Pros

Experimenting with new ways to do out of school time programming, working to strengthen infrastructure and to increase staff compensation, prioritizes mental and emotional health despite challenging work and long hours. Open to change and adjustments.

Cons

Just continue the work they are already doing to advocate for infrastructure and compensation for employees.

Pros

Great learning environment if youre looking to grow personally. You will learn your own strengths and weaknesses, how to better yourself, emotional intelligence, diversity and diversity issue. Giving back to the community is always a great feeling and you learn so much knowledge about non-profits out in the greater Dallas area. If you are looking to give back to your community and learn a little bit about yourself, PT is a great job.

Cons

The most toxic work environment I have ever been apart of. The directors want to teach you how the "real world works" or how the "real" work place is like but this is the complete opposite of that. You are basically an underpaid, undervalued, servant. The full time staff preaches self care but also expects you to sacrafice your mental and physical health for pay that is less than minimum wage. You need a day off for a doctors appointment, headache, bum knee, family emergency? NOPE. Should have had that family emergency on a day you did not work. They want to control you every second of every day. Oh you have a degree relating to child development? Oh well too bad, the person with a music degree knows everything about that and you don't. Youre over 21 and want to drink on your day off. NOPE. Also if you're white, you will experience racism by one of the full time staff members. If you work over the summer, forget being an actual human at all. The hours are completely unattainable to reach until you're working 24/7. literally. You get no free time.
