I worked at Proximity full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible work schedule (depending on your manager)

    Cons

No clear career trajectory -- changes in title do not equate to changes in opportunity or responsibility
There's a disconnect between the vision the leadership has for the agency and network as a whole, and the day-to-day work of individual employees -- because neither group understands the other

    Pros

Overall the culture at Barefoot is great! You get a strong since of community amongst a group of diverse individuals. Great place to soak in as much knowledge as you possibly can as you're encouraged to learn more about your industry & to continue to build on your strengths.

    Cons

Slow to promote and there is unclear guidance to advancements in one's career. Team favoritism is also very apparent amongst departments (i.e. personality outweighs your performance at times).

I have been working at Proximity full-time

    Pros

Overall, Barefoot is an awesome company to work for. Lots of opportunity for growth, big-name clients for a not-so-large city, great culture (happy hours, office dogs, beer cart, etc.) ... as to be expected from an agency setting.

    Cons

Some disciplines are siloed and cliquey. Somewhat high turnover. As in most agencies, the "work hard, play hard" mentality is apparent. Many team members spend early mornings and long nights in the office.

I worked at Proximity full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good pay. Pretty good benefits.
    Nice location.
    You can bring your dog.
    Beer carts on Fridays.

    Cons

They like to promise room for growth and mentor ship but they don't come through with it.
As a junior, they threw a lot of senior work on me and expected a lot more than what was ever asked. My supervisor even stated that my seniors expectations were just under the line of impossible every time, yet there was no recourse or help from my supervisor.

A lot of the higher up are really nice people who act like they care about you, but in the end its still business and will throw you under the bus for any reason.
People like to talk a lot about other people so much so that people on another floor in another department will know gossip about you.

Most times you will work way more than your 40 hours. My supervisor has yelled at me on a few occasions after I had gotten home from work making me work until 2AM. Really bad work/life balance.

There are also a lot of cool events like awards shows and cruises, which you can never bring your spouse or SO to.

    Advice to Management

Care more. Pretend to care less.

The leadership and efficiency is not that great.

I worked at Proximity full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The work and culture at Barefoot exceeded my expectations. The leadership team, especially in the creative space, was brilliant. I was genuinely excited to go to work every day, because the people are awesome. There is huge growth potential and a lot of internal promoting. If you decide there is a position that might be a better fit for you, they will help you get there.

    Cons

Typical pain points of any growing company. Shifting of teams and team members could be a little chaotic at times, but overall there isn't much to complain about.

    Pros

The people -- up and down the ladder -- genuinely care. They make the work better. They're in it for their team. The culture is of key importance here, and it shows.

    Cons

The trains are loud. Some teams are more overburdened than others.

    Advice to Management

Keep it up. Barefoot is a great place to work.
