    Pros

Like any small company in Silicon Valley, you'll have your pros and cons.
    Pros:
-They hire people who go above and beyond, who are always willing to help
    -Ton of learning opportunities
-Great place to get your feet wet
-Interesting product that has potential to change retail forever

    Cons

-Typical startup pain points: lower salaries, no 401k match, long hours
-Could invest more in employees to retain talent
    -Easy to get burnt out

    Advice to Management

Don't let your employees fall by the wayside just to reach a bottom line- they're your lifeblood.

I worked at RetailNext full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Downtown location & free garage parking
    - Opportunities for promotion within the company and across different departments
    - Monthly leadership events
    - Seems like a blast to work in the South Africa and Russia offices

    Cons

    - Overworked employees at HQ office, overwhelming feeling of low morale
    - Low salaries for some departments
    - Some managers stepping in to help their subordinates get work done, leaving little time to actually lead the team and manage process improvements

    Advice to Management

Focus on improving employee morale, and do whatever you can to keep those who have been with the company for years. The key is having in-depth knowledge of the company's operations.

I worked at RetailNext full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Cool product. Nice colleagues from management and below. However, it's not that simple.

    Cons

It's implemented incorrectly, because account managers lack the ability to establish expectations with customers and with their department VP.

Unfortunately, the company C-suite poorly lead their teams and don't know how to inspire any confidence in their people. This is also due to immense egos and politicking within the organization by senior management.

If you're in an operations role (Implementation, Project Management, Audit, Finance, Support) busting your behind and working as hard as possible will be poorly rewarded, even if it is promised. In my case, (for the work I performed and impact I made), I was extremely under-compensated from a fair market standpoint; as well as, being forced to remain stagnant in a low level individual contributor roll when I was doing far more.

    Advice to Management

Start forward-thinking as opposed to thinking in the now. Clean up your act within. Stop flying globally and start investing that money within. Start promoting those who are 110% invested in the success and sustainability of the company when they show interest instead.

Clean house on the top and get proven and inspiring leaders. It's like watching amateur hour while you're trying to build AND fly an airplane simultaneously. Listen to the problems your employees are telling you they face on a daily basis and work hard to solve them fast.

    Pros

Best culture I have experienced - immediately feel like part of a huge family - the offering is almost unbeatable - leadership team willing to assist in any way at all times - excellent sales training - open communications across org

    Cons

As with any fast growth company, you're often required to do multiple jobs and make decisions on the fly. If you are from a structured role (ie larger company), you might no be able to keep up.

    Pros

The business is very focused on results for customers, and you are empowered to achieve the best results you can. It's a fantastic place to work if you want to have a huge impact. Expectations are high, and there are a lot of bright people working here.

    Cons

There's not much hand-holding, and it is sometimes harder for people who are used to more formality or processes to be as successful.

    Advice to Management

There can never be too much internal communication about what the company is doing.

    Pros

RetailNext is an awesome company. The management team is highly engaged and focused. The culture is positive. The three original founders are still involved and leading the company, which is a good thing (and rare in the Valley today). RetailNext checks all the boxes: product market fit, stable technology, though leadership, favorable margins, and GREAT people! This company will be a winner.

The downtown San Jose location is a plus. Lot's of good food. So much better than a soulless office park on the peninsula.

Huge opportunities to grow your career. Management recruits from within.

    Cons

Like all successful companies there are more opportunities than the company can reasonably handle. This can be overwhelming for some, but shouldn't be an issue for high performers.

    Advice to Management

Stay the course. The strategic plan and road map are solid. The world is your future.
