Overworked, Underpaid, Leaders who DONT CARE

Pros

It is a fun enviornment, there was always fun events going on that employees were able to attend, great discounts at any company owned venues. Employee parties were always fun. The staff (not so much the leaders) were friendly and down to earth.

Cons

This is a very unprofessional work enviornment. Besides the physical office which I will get to in a minute, the leaders are very arrogant and not open to anything besides their own opinions. Morale- While I understand it is an entertainment company that is by nature more laxed, the amount of disrespect that comes out of peoples mouths is unbearable--and it is not from the 20+ random unpaid interns the company brings on to do grunt work and pass out flyers no one looks at- its from actual owners of the company. Being sworn at, having your character demoralized, papers shoved in faces- they do it all. I have even heard that owners have said that they don't give a sh*t about the people who work there, because they expect people to fail them- nice message to send to your employees. Work Life Balance- There is no worklife balance. Employees work at least 12 hour days and are constantly on call via phone, email, etc. It is a norm to have evening and weekend meetings scheduled at the last minute after working 60+ hour work weeks. I understand that the industry calls for that, but there is no flexibility given when we are forced to work late night events or do anything after hours. Compensation- Compensation is a joke- from what I was paid and from what some of my peers shared about their pay, we are all paid way below market value. While I was there, the company opened up two more properties and I was working my tail off, only to be told that I needed to work more, and " by the way, we are on a salary freeze and won't be considering any raises until at least mid year 2013". I understand that not everyone can get raise every year and in a bad economy this is common- but at the same time, I do not find it ok to complain about people not working enough when we are already working so much and more and more keeps coming on our plates than what we were hired to do. If you can't pay your people right, don't keep opening up new venues that add even more work and expect people to burn themselves out. Leadership- I am not sure why the company hired people at a manager or director level, because anyone with that title has zero authority. My boss could never make a decision without going through the president. When it came to being a leader for me, I did not think that my boss ever fought for the team- my boss would say one thing during our team meeting, and then completley change the stance on certain projects- would never fight for things or even present other options- just said "ok" to unrealistic and unattainable expectations, and then when things failed, would blame us. Even when complaining to HR about things. the owners would not change anything or take any complaints seriously. Maybe this company just was not for me, but I have seen a revolving door of people leaving since I left just a short while ago- and from what I know, there are many more who are close to leaving too.

Terrible place to work

Pros

Singular, ONLY pro of working here is the relationship you'll build with co-workers. Good people.

Cons

Treated like a slave, second class citizen. No respect from managers or partners. Partners only care about themselves. Hope you negotiated your salary well, because you should never expect any raise even after proven hard work. No HR department to talk through personnel issues with.

Pros

Get to attend a lot of parties, fun company culture

Cons

It's a bubble, Billy Dec thinks he's a celebrity, they pay their employees barely nothing but expect you to be wired in 24/7, don't get used to anyone in the company for too long...the only people that seem to stay are the partners.
