I have been working at Rotary full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great location in Evanston, good pay and excellent benefits, especially for a non-profit. It's fulfilling to know you are working as a small part of the bigger picture. They also highly encourage professional development in their employees and once they have you, it seems they try to promote from within and keep you.

    Cons

Somewhat high turn over rate in certain areas/departments. Also male dominated and patriarchal, an historical Rotary problem, and a lot of red tape even for simple tasks. Political internal squabbles at times; sometimes shortsightedness gets in the way and causes things to move even more slowly.

    Advice to Management

Get more women in senior leadership and on the Board of Directors and Board of Trustees!! Also strongly consider global membership not restricted to a specific club; the current status of low and overly selective membership does not offer a bright outlook for the future of Rotary, a genuinely noble organization.

I have been working at Rotary full-time

    Pros

There are some nice perks here, and people are generally friendly. Management seems to respect us. Obviously, Rotary does good work in the world, so you're supporting that.

    Cons

The one thing I don't like is that it's not a "fun" place to work. I'm not saying it's depressing, but it tends to be quiet, with people mostly glued to their computer screens. And people tend to be middle-aged, which I think contributes to its air of "earnestness."

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work with your employee benefits.
