I worked at Rotary full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people you are working with are great, for the most part, and you know that the non-profit is using the money it collects from the annual campaign for good purposes, sending it back into the community via various avenues of donations.

    Cons

Probably the most demanding position I have ever held, as there was very little down time, if ever. The moment you finish with one board meeting or weekly meeting, you are going again on the next meetings. And the meetings are only a small part of your job duties. It might help if there were two people doing this job, on different days, or specializing in different things.

    Pros

Great People! Fantastic Mission! Benefits are great as well!

    Cons

Changing leadership can sometimes make things a bit erratic. Organization needs to figure out if they want to be run like a for profit business or a non-profit. They sometimes get confused which type of organization they want to be.

    Advice to Management

Never forget your mission statement and why people joined Rotary.

    I worked at Rotary full-time

    Pros

It's easy to feel good about the work you're doing at Rotary International. This is a company fueled by good deeds and kind people who are eager to make a difference. If you want a job that you can feel good about at the end of the day, this is a great place to be.

    Cons

There's very little room for advancement and a lot of red tape. This company is held back by its archaic reputation, but upper management seems too afraid to push on new and innovative ideas to usher in the next generation of the company.

    Advice to Management

Hire younger staff and embrace their ideas.
