I worked at SCOUT full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great culture, flexible work from home policy, and they love dogs!

    Cons

Management was lackadaisical and unorganized at times.

    Advice to Management

Put more trust in the people who actually do most of the work.

I worked at SCOUT full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Generally, leadership genuinely cares about the employees and company culture. For a small agency, they try to keep a close knit, family oriented agency culture which is rare. Everyone knows everyone and a pretty good vibe around the office.

    Cons

There is truly a lack of manpower for the volume of work that is being done and teamlines that are demanded. Account often worked until 6 or 7p on weekdays and some weekends. Creatives often had to work weekends. And work was still not meeting timelines. A lot of this is due to a lack of good leadership, especailly in the Chicago office. This has been a root cause of a lot of turnover and departures from hard working,...

    Advice to Management

Replace your manamgent in Chicago, it truly is awful. If you haven't realized the lack of good leadership out of that office in the past six months, it will become even more evident in the near future as you're losing good people left and right.

I worked at SCOUT full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great talent and collaborative team mates (some) across offices and markets. Untapped client growth potential.

    Cons

Lackuster creative but then again. You've got weak strategy and account so you can't completely blame them. Lack of communication and in-fighting only leads to client suffering and stagnation. Little less 'mean girls' and more respect across teams might bring you the roi you seek.

    Advice to Management

    Grow up

    I worked at SCOUT full-time

    Pros

Encouraged, sponsored social events to improve culture. Good exposure to pharma industry for junior employees. Above average work/life balance with some exceptions. Competitive pay for industry. Competitive benefits with a few perks.

    Cons

High level leadership is absent and disconnected from Chicago office. Organization values are window dressing and used as a crutch. Negative environment with unpleasant, seemingly insecure management. Poor performance not addressed, but protected and excused. Healthcare branding has an identity crisis. Work often sold that cannot be delivered on.

    Advice to Management

Consider more rational, thoughtful efforts to stop the bleeding of the Chicago / healthcare office, if possible.

I worked at SCOUT full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Management is family (literally) - Happy hours, socials, lots and lots of socializing and drinking opportunities - Ability to "work from home" - Loves dogs

    Cons

    - Salary is not competitive with other bigger name agencies - Benefits are very basic and not that good - Work/life "balance" is very hard to achieve based on management - Agency work is not fulfilling, often "basic" and not creative - Management plays favorites and doesn't groom or coach for success

    Advice to Management

Focus on employees & benefits for them (salary, coaching, etc.,), especially if you want your reputation to go beyond a second/third tier agency. Actions speak louder than words. Also, try to make the Chicago office more fun. Everyone always seems depressed coming in.

I worked at SCOUT full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There are some good people spread throughout the organization. It looks like the other offices have a lot of fun and do interesting work, but the Chicago office...not so much. Lots of free alcohol and mixers with the cool kids, but if that's not your thing, you're treated like a leper. Did you see the movie, Mean Girls? They don't want you sitting at their lunch table.

    Cons

You sit at one of two tables: the cool kid table where you are invited to take part in the reindeer games or the leftover table where you spend endless hours servicing existing clients. Once you are relegated to the leftover table there is only way to go: away. You will no longer be recognized by management. Maintaining the client should not be a bad thing. It's what pay the bills so you can do amazing creative. But at...

    Pros

Dog-friendly. Atlanta office is near Lenox square if you enjoy lunch break shopping.

    Cons

Owned by a venture capital firm--overly profit-driven. Credo is "Be Brave" but the overall culture is fear-driven.
