I have been working at SET Environmental full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

SET takes the time to train their employees a great deal. Some companies would depend on on-the-job training right out of the gate, but they really make an effort to train first. Most of the employees and supervisors are pleasant to work with, and that makes a big difference too. They seem more concerned with quality versus quantity or being out to make a buck. It's a good place to start in the waste industry.

    Cons

Starting pay for the position seems low.

    Advice to Management

Evaluate pay to see where you are in the market.

I worked at SET Environmental full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The pay is relevant to what was expected.

    Cons

Very poor management. Supposed to receive weekly performance reviews. After 2 months there, was presented with 8 post dated performance reviews that contained needed performance evaluations. 4 weeks later, 4 more post dated performance evaluations that contained derogatory performance reviews that was was never explained to me.

    Advice to Management

    Employ better leadership.

I worked at SET Environmental full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Besides my pay rate of 21.00 an hour not much.

    Cons

Hours were cut before Thanksgiving. Paid every other week. Expensive health insurance. Certification is hard to obtain as a driver since they have no seniority system. Guy off the street can be hired in and certified before someone who has been there. Trainers are never around and training is a joke since it rarely occurs. I really hope this company can retain their customers but making 400.00 a week average and them deviating from what we had stated in the interview due to managment changes. Also there is nothing like a company telling you we are one team and you go to Wheeling, IL and they refer to you as a driver from the company they bought out.

    Advice to Management

Quit pricing yourself out of existence. Takecare of your driver's. There is no need to have nineteen office personnel including four sales people to 16 drivers. Give your sales team the ability to work with and keep customers. Listen to your driver's and maybe take care of the ones who want to work seventy hours a week and become certified on all equipment. I realize now I made a mistake coming here and hope others don't do the same.

I worked at SET Environmental (Less than a year)

    Pros

Compensation was good and I got to do things I would never otherwise get to do.

    Cons

A lot of the supervisors in the field were jerks and gave unfair performance reviews.

    Advice to Management

Make sure your field technicians are being treated well and the supervisors are able to work well with a diverse range of individuals.

I have been working at SET Environmental (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great work environment and good insurance plan and benefits. There is a lot of room for vertical and lateral mobility throughout the company and plenty of opportunity. Corporate is usually fairly receptive to employee input but not perfect.

    Cons

The starting pay for my position feels a little low for a degree requiring position and the company does not match its 401K plan.

    Pros

Lots of variety of work! Everyday is different, never a dull moment. Management cares about their employees and wants their feedback on how to improve the company overall.

    Cons

Communication across the different Divisions can be difficult at times. But each location has a Message board that recognizes employees for doing a good job, and gives important updates.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!
