    Pros

The job was simple I assisted Physicians and Surgeons with learning how to use the new EPIC medical records software installed at Sacred Heart in Spokane Washington.

    Cons

The job was a six week contract and there was the opportunity to go to more locations with them but there would have been several weeks in-between jobs and I needed full time work

    Advice to Management

Offer full time 40 hrs a week with less than a week between jobs so a person that likes the job as I did can make a living at it.

    Pros

You get a free pair of scrubs

    Cons

They hire too many people then fire for no reason. The short your paychecks by hundreds of dollars then expect you to wait two weeks because of their screw up. I would say more but my attorney is filing wrongful termination and a class action suit against them so I am not allowed to itemize more details.

    Advice to Management

Really? Management? They would still be paying using cor nuts if they thought they could. Go back to Oregon. Oh and changing your name does not get you out of your legal issues.... See you in court.

    Pros

They train you well for your job, investing in classroom time with experienced trainers before you ever step into the hospital.

    Cons

I was hired for a scribe job that I thought I would have for at least a year, only to get cut because of overhiring after a month and having to scramble to find a new job.

    Advice to Management

Be more conservative with your hiring. It's better to have people be disappointed about not getting the job outright than stringing them along and then leaving them hanging later on.

I worked at Scribes STAT part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours and that's about it.

    Cons

No opportunity to move up. Turn over for everyone every couple of months, except owners and a few office workers. They hire everyone as temps, but promise growth in the company when there is none. Management is always in panic mode either they are hiring 100 people for a months worth of work or they are laying everyone off, even office staff, because business just became slow.

    Advice to Management

Run the organization like a business and not as an after thought. Treat people with respect and reward the people who work hard for you.

    Pros

Get paid to travel to places. Paid hotel, food, and gain experience in the medical field which is really hard to get into!

    Cons

Away from family for a couple of weeks. Unless you're from town. But get paid to go home every 14 days. Short notices on some parts of the job.

    Advice to Management

Read the chapter, "The Law of Navigation" from the book, "21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership". That will help preparation for Go-Lives and major projects.

    Pros

Majority of the employees in this company are intelligent, motivated, dedicated workers. The potential for growth is there, but it is long term. With the proper guidance, this can be a terrific place to be - travel can be a plus for singles. Great experience when preparing to enter the medical field (nursing, med school, etc).

    Cons

As the company evolves, there are good and bad acquisitions in upper management and administration. Some seem to have a strong approach without any real communication with field staff. This company is still in the bumpy transition so it is unclear if the company will realize their vision. Expect many casualties along the way, particularly in talent. Low pay, inflexibility in schedules (project based positions), lack of respect and communication are currently holding this company back and causing rather high turn over.

    Advice to Management

Care about your talent (pay, time off, respect). That is the only way to keep good teams. Vision may be there but it is not shared with the bulk of the employees. More focus on retaining quality staff would benefit the company in preparation to grow. You will not repair the reputation of this company by staffing projects with high ratios of "new hires".

I have been working at Scribes STAT full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

After the traveling tutors leave the locals can learn something if your lucky enough to have local hires.

    Cons

You start at $12 an hour no matter how much experience or lack of it you have. This is great for people trying to get into the business. However because of the lack of experience needed this job has a lot of people who don’t care and really shouldn’t be in this type of work. The company breaks their own rules and punishes those who are not part of the “in crowd of yes men.” If you can think for yourself and do your work then don’t waste your time. There are far better companies out there that will treat you well and pay better.
If you plan on contracting with this company my advice…. DON’T. My time is spent having to go behind the tutors that are not well trained and fix the mistakes they tell the medical staff. There has been times that is has become a health and safety issue of the patients. Even when this is brought up to management it is brushed under the rug. I am told I am doing a wonderful job and keep it up however I need to stop telling the medical staff, the tutors are giving bad information because I am making the company look bad. NO YOU ARE!

    Advice to Management

Train your tutors! Reward the ones that are making not opening you up for a law suit. Get rid of the ones that are endangering lives. Review the phrase, "it's not about Quantity its about Quality."

I worked at Scribes STAT part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you need a quick job that has no future this is it. Most people will only last a year or so. Each go live is 6 weeks and then you move to the next location. If you go home you pay for it.If you want to see different hospitals this is the job. You also get to argue with Doctors and get yelled at because they did not do their training.

    Cons

Not organized and give little notice of training and schedule needs. You must have a phone that gets e-mail so, you can immediately sign up for training the moment it comes out. There is never enough slots for all. Training gets canceled with no notice and the rules change. You are basically trying to perform the job with little training. If you have very very good memory and can get in the inner circle you will go far ? New bees get the worse schedule and get abused. Favorites work first shift so, be sure you work first shift.

    Advice to Management

Be more pro active and do a better job of providing training and support. Everything is done from home office so direct contact is rare. The managers need to be more proactive and involved in making things run better.
