I have been working at Select World full-time

    Pros

    - Great office spaces and locations in different cities (all are a bit unique and have their own flair)
    - For the most part, employees are hard working, talented, and pleasant to work with
    - Not corporate at all so there's a nice laid back vibe
    - Half days on Fridays between Memorial Day and Labor Day are a huge plus and you get a solid amount of vacation, personal, and sick days
    - Most people actually take a proper lunch break and eat in the kitchen which is not typically the case at other agencies where everyone eats at their desks while working
    - Generally, hard-working employees are recognized with a raise/promotion
    - Caliber of clients tends to be strong

    Cons

    - Because of the casual work environment, people can be unprofessional... this is not the case for everyone, but there are some strong personalities (including amongst management) so you need to be okay with dealing with that
    - Promotions/raises will be on freeze if there's a lack of client work overall which can be really unfair if your client work is going well and you have been told you will get a promotion/raise
    - There's a sink or swim mentality and little training so this is not a good place for people who aren't comfortable learning as they go

    Advice to Management

    - Make use of the global network more
    - Allocate work more evenly so you don't have one person overloaded with work while another has nothing to do
    - Offer more training to junior and mid-level employees

I have been working at Select World full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Strong Mentor
    Fast paced environment
    Summer Fridays
    Creative minded team throughout

    Cons

Field of advertising can be unpredictable, so there are days where you have an overflowing amount of work, but then there are some days that are pretty laid back with a bit more time to catch up on leisure work.

I worked at Select World full-time

    Pros

    -Some people are nice
    -Starbucks downstairs
-Watching all the drama happen in this agency is more entertaining than any other reality shows.

    Cons

-Indecisive long meetings that goes nowhere
-Outdated way of thinking and unable to keep up with the trends
-Stressful and sometimes threatening work environment

A lot of seniors and management level are still stuck in the 2000s and the glory that this agency had back in the days. They are trying to promote themselves as a digital agency without really any understanding of digital and they are trying to appeal as luxury fashion/beauty agency while no one really cares about fashion. And yet they seem to be confused as to why they are losing all the clients.

    Advice to Management

They say that you can't see the forest for the trees. Well, you guys are wasting time looking at tiny leaves for too long.

Don't expect Junior to Mid-level staffs to give you 110% when you are giving them little to no attention.

I worked at Select World (More than a year)

    Pros

I honestly can't think of a single positive.

    Cons

This office was extremely dysfunctional. No HR department here to speak of! Junior level employees were left to fend for themselves, given little-to-no direction and treated very poorly. Most employees here leave or get canned within a year's time. The rest who stay are outdated graphic designers and art directors who have limited talents and ambitions in the industry. The high turnover rate here was definitely due to poor management. The mindset and poor attitudes of the creative directors at this place make it ridiculously bad to come to work here every day. I don't understand where their delusions of grander come from!? The equipment here is crap. Everything kept crashing because they wouldn't pony up the cash for a proper network. There is nothing elevated about this place. Most of the artwork I was told to board up for meetings was directly copied (not inspired from, but 100% copied!) images from the torn out pages of Vogue, W, and Harpers editorials. What a total bore. If the clients only knew how little creativity was actually in this creative agency, they would really consider moving to another agency.

    Advice to Management

The fish rots from the head down. I would make some serious changes in upper level management.

    Pros

Great vacation package, good year end bonus ( even when they shouldn't )

    Cons

Out dated ideas. Direct result of dead weight creative lead.
Abusive management style ( as it's not an American Co.)- From CEO and passed down.
NO HR - everything is done based on who likes you, Very high school female leads. ( Devils wears basic Prada of Canal street meets MeanGirls from the valley )
High turnover... See all of the above.
High turnover of clients... See above - frustrated, stressed out employees.
No time to train nor nurture talent.
    Abusive and Aggressive management

    Advice to Management

You're done! Stop selling nothing to a CEO who's absent! CEO - fire all of management - Change is good. These people only use their positions to validate their Prada, Hermes, Chanel, Fire Island, Hamptons and expensive vacation lifestyles.

I worked at Select World full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

SOME of the people are fantastic, smart and dedicated humans. Otherwise... the toilets work. There is free coffee. And water.

    Cons

Poor leadership, lack of process and a very toxic environment destroy any sense of motivation one might try to have.

    Advice to Management

Give your mid-level/jr staff (the folks doing the bulk of the work) an actual support system. Fix the glaring problems at the VERY top. Unload creative dead weight at the senior level.

The best thing about this agency is the people. They are super talented, friendly and kindhearted.

    Cons

Extremely unstable agency. The management is horrible. There is no process, structure or consistency on any level.

    Advice to Management

Learn what proper leadership truly entails

I worked at Select World full-time

    Pros

Generous paid time off - all federal holidays are observed. Yes, even Columbus Day. The location of the office is great. They hire smart mid- and lower-level staff; unfortunately they don't have the right mentors in place.

    Cons

Inexperienced management team - they have senior-level staff that barely have experience to be mid-level employees in other agencies. This is the root of it's issues - decision makers shouldn't be the decision makers.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring and promotion senior staff who are clueless on how an agency functions. Most don't even have actual agency experience prior to joining this company.
