Pros

Was one of my first jobs out of college, so I just needed any office job willing to take me.

Cons

Management is horrendous, I've since worked at many places and still think Solution21 was one of the worst places I've ever worked at. No growth, no transparency, tons of favoritism - the list literally goes on and on. Avoid at all costs, I'd probably rather go back to working as a server anywhere else.

Take a deep breath before you clock in type of bad job.

Pros

Some flexibility with working hours.

Cons

There are endless bad things to say about this company and the way it functions. No clearly defined roles exist within the company of 5 people.. unless you are the IT guy. If they start looking for a new person to add to the team, odds are they’re going to fire someone. I noticed while they were hiring, the only applicants that were interviewed were young inexperienced girls just entering the workforce. The team is also comprised of all women all relatively inexperienced so there is no real training or growth opportunities. This is mostly due to their extremely limited budget- they will pay as little as possible. You create your own opportunities if you can fight for them enough while navigating micromanagement and a complete lack of trust that goes as far as being told you are being watched via cameras by the owner when he is not physically in the office. (More than once I would get Skype messages asking where a coworker was when they were not visible on camera) The owner likes to intimidate and exert power over employees. When my direct manager was fired he brought us into his office and said “I can yell at my employees if I want- they’re my employees”. During this meeting, he also told us that we should be grateful we are provided chairs and coffee as some companies do nothing for their employees. Both times when he was hiring a new employee he would brag to everyone that there were great applicants all willing to take as low as minimum wage. The hostility he displayed around any discussions of bonuses, raises, and generally compensation created fear within many employees about requesting a raise despite being given more and more responsibilities. He repeatedly said you want a raise? Where am I supposed to get that money maybe if you make sales I’ll have money to give you a raise (this was not my role). He regularly called long-term contract workers the team had established great working relationships with easily replaceable. He took every opportunity possible to let everyone know he thought they were replaceable. This attitude carried onto his interactions with in-house team members. Not once did I ever feel like a valued member of the team at Solution21. Stability does not exist at a company of this size and with an owner this unpredictable. For months the team was unsure of who was going to get fired because clients kept cancelling. This caused tension amongst the team and made a suffocatingly uncomfortable work environment. If you are a young recent grad or looking for a flexible job in the industry proceed with caution. There were also close to 0 benefits.
