I worked at THX full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Top notch team (management and engineering) and outstanding brand potential. Small and agile team.

    Cons

Lots of high-risk opportunities spend too long in the pipeline, however, the new management has changed this paradigm.

I have been working at THX full-time

    Pros

Legacy Brand that people genuinely value and associate great memories with. Impressive team of technology experts and business savvy. Plenty of opportunity for career growth if you ride it out. CEO trusts his team entirely and gives full confidence. Executive team is very experienced in diverse technology fields that adds a boost to the trust in direction.

    Cons

Small team, often confused with Dolby who is not actually a competitor

I have been working at THX full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

We have a high caliber team and a solid brand. I do agree with the previous reviews regarding lack of direction. However, we are under new leadership and we have a solid game plan for growing and expanding the business. I am looking forward to what's to come!

    Cons

Only time will tell if the dramatically positive turnaround will flourish. However, I plan on sticking around to find out.

I worked at THX full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Strong brand, some good people. With the right voice from the top they could do something with this brand.

    Cons

Lack of direction, indecisive management style. Owner is remote and is an odd combination of hands off and completely controlling. A top down company that has an amazing amount of hierarchical structure for being so small.

I worked at THX (More than a year)

    Pros

There were some very bright people at THX who were very knowledgable about their particular area of expertise.

    Cons

There is absolutely no direction from the top. They would send you off to complete a project, then ignore it when you were finished. They would commit resources to initiatives, then cancel them as soon as you started to make headway. They would engage in discussions for strategic partnerships, then walk away from the table with no warning. Life at THX was nothing more than vacillating from one time suck to the next with no purpose or direction.

    Advice to Management

Figure out what direction you want to go, articulate it, and stick with it.

"Great Brand, Lousy Management and Board of Directors"

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

The THX brand is iconic and there are a lot of really good people working in engineering and other departments, below the management ranks. The company has partnerships with some of the biggest names in technology and entertainment.

    Cons

THX has no solid leadership, and is currently managed by an "Executive Committee" of VPs who micromanage every aspect of the business. In the past few years, the company leadership (General Manager or President) position has changed 5 times. Accountability at the management level is non-existent. In fact, managers who have led failing product initiatives are often promoted, while some of the hardest workers are overlooked. For a company with less than 70 employees, the internal politics are toxic. And THX's reputation within the cinema and electronics worlds are tainted.

    Advice to Management

You can't run a company by committee. THX needs solid leadership under the direction of an experienced CEO or president. And, if this person is hired, they need to be granted the freedom to make tough decisions without interference from the Board. Poor management from the BOD level, has plagued this company for more than a decade.
