I have been working at TV One full-time

    Pros

It's a family oriented company and their are good people that work here.

    Cons

Poor leadership. Managers lack managerial skills. No match for 401K. No development plans for junior level employees. No investment in employee growth. Severely underpaid for the level of work that we do.

I have been working at TV One full-time

    Pros

    Family oriented place of work

    Cons

No growth opportunity for junior level staff

    Advice to Management

There is a need to have a development plan for staff, most supervisors have terrible leadership skills

I worked at TV One full-time

    Pros

    Casual dress and celebrity sightings

    Cons

Where do I start?! Very unprofessional. Management plays a huge role in the gossip and things are done unfairly. They don't care about their employees at all. HR is no help when filing a formal complaint. It's awful. Run. Don't walk. RUN.

    Advice to Management

Take some leadership courses and learn how to be professionals.

I have been working at TV One full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The atmosphere is great! I love my team and we have a lot of fun! The beauty in this company lies in the small-family oriented nature that really nurtures it's junior employees to grow, however, there have been recent additions to the team that do not follow this same mindset and prefer to keep junior employees in a box. Take that how you will, you may get a good one, you may not.

    Cons

The paid is decent at best, PTO is 2 weeks for everyone under a Director title and 3 weeks from there. Maternity leave is non existent... well, short-term disability and FMLA are available

    Advice to Management

Advice to Management: sew into the junior team members and give them room to grow. This will build loyalty and a strong desire to work hard for the company. And give the creatives room to be creative and do their thing. Micromanaging wil suffocate the brand.

I worked at TV One full-time

    Pros

    Is that a serious question?

    Cons

How much time to do you have? The moral is scarcely low. People are in management positions that have no business being there. There are rotten apples that ruin the rest without being reprimanded which leaves zero space for accountability. Lack of team spirit, lack of respect, terrible insurance. no 401k match, no raises. There's also no culture and people are comfortable being complacent and basic.

    Advice to Management

THROW THE WHOLE TV ONE AWAY!

I worked at TV One full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The work experience that you get, but I'm sure one could get even better work experience at another network so, its not really a "pro".

    Cons

Toxic environment. There are people in management who have no business in management. The gossip is beyond absurd. This is a company, not high school. No in-depth training. Ratings are bad, which make things difficult for ad sales support team. There is too much to mention. I'd rather just forget about it all.

    Advice to Management

Stop the gossip. Instead of hiring a bunch of contract workers, hire people who care about the business and the brand, train them well, and you'll get quality work. Put people in management who actually KNOW how to manage a team, rather than just sit back and collect a check while things are going haywire and team morale is going down the drain.

I worked at TV One full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people - family oriented environment. I made and still have a lot of friends there.
The opportunity - you get the opportunity to do things that are way above your pay grade. I felt like two years of experience at TV One was like 10 years at other networks.

    Cons

Too much negativity and blame sometimes. The network seems like its always playing catch up.

    Advice to Management

Define who you want to be and what you want the network to be. Take stock of who is on board with the vision and find a way to exit all the rest. Add contribution to the 401K to be competitive with other networks.
