    Neutral Outlook

I worked at US Transportation Command full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It is a great place to work. A mix of other military services, contractors, and government employees. There is plenty of upward movement.

    Cons

With all these different military, services, etc. it is hard to make sure everyone is on the same page as in understanding.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at US Transportation Command full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Motivated, well educated professionals, comprised of military, civilian and contractor personnel. Outstanding leaders with a clear mission and vision for the organization.

    Cons

Doesn't do a good enough job of hiring non-AF civil service personnel into this joint organization. Most, if not all civil service positions are announced as "AF internal only", so other DoD and federal civil servants cannot apply to be considered. Really a short sighted personnel policy which goes against the very idea of a true "joint" organization. US Transportation Command needs more Navy and Army civil servants... we have way too many AF civil servants... and I'm an AF officer!

    Pros

Great mission, you feel like you accomplish something important every day! Very service oriented with a core value that making others succeed is what makes your role important,

    Cons

Work life balance can be challenging, but with most things important, that is almost always the case.

    Advice to Management

Be genuinely transparent with the customer base and push to eliminate useless tasks that serve no purpose
