I have been working at USEC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people and place to work. Good pay rate. Security Clearance from Department of Energy. Lots of opportunity for advancement and/or to even change jobs.

    Cons

The only real Con of mention is that as a sub-contractor for Department of Energy to produce LEU. (Low Enriched Uranium) for peaceful, commercial applications. Company relied upon Department of Energy to build facility. D.O.E. has ceased funding and plant is being shut down at the Piketon location.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at USEC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Family oriented. Better than average pay and good and fair benefits. Challenging word on a wide variety of EE topic (i.e., power distribution, analog/digital circuit design, SCADA design, motor and motor drive drive, etc.)

    Cons

Lacking a clear path for growth. High turnover of fellow engineers

    Advice to Management

Invest in younger engineers and be honest with veteran employees about their individual futures

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at USEC full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, good salary, flexible schedules, excellent training opportunities, casual work environment, fair number of holidays given including some companion holidays, good group of people to work with

    Cons

USEC filed chapter eleven bankrupty in 2014 and will go through an organizational restructure, trying to work through its financial difficulties, future is very uncertain and unclear as they try to raise finances to build new plant

  8. "Great pay but not worth it. Put in long hours just to get laid off while the CEO makes millions."

    Pros

Pay. That's about the only pro I can think of after 7 years with this company.

    Cons

Too many chiefs and not enough indians. No room for advancement unless you are a suck up. Rotating shift. Greedy CEO. Lots of drama all of the time.

    Advice to Management

Most management didn't even deserve to be in management. They just sucked up to the right people. Management was very catty and talked about employees behind their backs. Always causing friction. It would be great if you would cut all of that crap out. If you want your employees to respect you, respect them first.

    Pros

It has been a good job for many years

    Cons

They are closing their only running enrichment plant in Paducah, and have filed for bankruptcy.

    Advice to Management

Don't close your only running enrichment plant and waste money on the test plant in piketon.

I have been working at USEC full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay is good, good benefits, they don't care when or if you come to work.

    Cons

There is no encouragement for continued education. They have no set policy on showing up for work - what time or anything. They do not ackowledge you for a job well done. The only way to get ahead is to suck up to upper management. Upper management is not well educated, many of the employees have more education than the management team. They have no sellable product, their only source of income is DOE even tho it is supposed to be "private".
