I have been working at USGA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Workplace environment, mission-driven, organizational camaraderie, 403(b) plan, 401(a) plan, extracurricular events, volunteer opportunities, blood drives, Play 9 events, Drive, Chip and Putt events, and a new building to come in 2018!

    Cons

Significantly greater cost of living in the immediate area of New Jersey, high state taxes in NJ, and high real estate taxes in NJ.

    Advice to Management

    God Bless!

    Pros

They taught me a lot in the duration of my internship. They handled most of the furious customers and any major problems that arose. They paid for all of my Ralph Lauren clothing and I worked closely with my supervisors. They gave us some free time at the end to go observe the US Open and feel part of the bigger picture.

    Cons

Honestly nothing, the interview process was lengthy but it was worth it.

I worked at USGA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    You meet some great people
    Travel to awesome venues
Access to behind the scenes on how these events are put together.

    Cons

The organization is too top heavy (everyone is either an Assistant Director, Manager, Executive Director, Executive Managing Director, etc.). Why does one department have 4 managers?
The organization is too far behind on technology that once they catch up they'll only fall behind again.

    Advice to Management

You can't please everyone. You have to make some tough decisions in where people will not like. They'll get over it.

    I worked at USGA full-time

    Pros

Great place to work if you love the game of golf. Rich traditions and opportunity to impact the future of the game.

    Cons

Organization has been in major growth and transition mode for several years. Internal alignment issues between departments creates inefficiency and power struggles.

    Advice to Management

    Practice what you preach.

    Advice to Management

they need to listen to their employees more. also they can push workers too much sometimes. but tis all very fun.

I have been working at USGA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Prestigious company. Adventure and travel depending on your position. Well-established and will be around for a long, long time. Big name but grounded in small business roots (for the time being at least). Devoted staff members who are proud of their work.

    Cons

Corporate America is creeping in which is worrisome. Most of the senior staff has a great rapport with the mid and lower level employees, but a couple new executives have institutued change which is not well-received by the whole.

    Advice to Management

Be careful trying to fix what's not broken.
