Shout-out to our associates who participated in Extra Life, our 24-hour charitable giving gaming event, earlier this month. 🎮🎲 Together, we were able to raise over $6,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Never has giving back been so much fun or so memorable. Elise, one of our associates who participated, shared: "Primary Children's Hospital saved my life when I was born and my sister's life. When I heard that 1-800 Contacts was doing an Extra Life gaming event for 24-hours to donate to a good cause, I told my husband we should totally do that since we love to play board games and video games, and it benefits all those children with all the money we raised. We just felt it was the right thing to do. It was a lot of fun and we will definitely take part in participating in the next one." We also want to thank those behind the scenes who planned and delivered such a great event for our associates and their guests. We have some passionate runners in our company, and it was our pleasure to sponsor these individuals as they participated in the REVEL Big Cottonwood marathon and half marathon this past weekend. Waking up before the sun, many donned their 1-800 race shirts and made the trek down the canyon. It was fun to watch each associate cross the finish line to the cheers of our associate volunteers – and their personal fan clubs, of course. The overall feedback was that everyone had a great time, although that may have just been the exhaustion talking. Celebrating our people and the work they do is a big part of our culture at1-800 Contacts. One of the ways we help foster recognition is through our associate-driven Acclaim program. Every month, associates throughout the organization nominate their peers, direct reports, and leaders for living our company values: Big-hearted, Tenacious, Unconventional, and Better together. These moments range from big to small, and remind us of the incredible people we have working at our physical and virtual campuses. We hear stories of associates who took on a challenging project, lent their expertise to other teams, and brainstormed work-changing solutions that greatly improved existing processes. We also hear about associates who helped a coworker move over the weekend, search for a lost pet, get through a personal challenge, or turn around a bad day by surprising them with their favorite cookies. Selecting only four winners is often a challenge considering we receive dozens of inspiring nominations each month, but we recognize that is a great problem to have. We’re grateful for our associates who help us create a team that people want to be part of because they feel seen, supported, and valued by those around them.
