Archbold Grady has unveiled a new state-of-the-art GE Revolution Ascend 64-slice CT scanner, bringing advanced imaging technology to patients in Grady County. The new scanner provides faster scan times, helping patients spend less time in the imaging suite while also allowing physicians to obtain highly detailed images for diagnosis and treatment planning. The system also uses advanced technology designed to produce high-quality images while reducing radiation exposure compared to older CT systems.
Archbold Northside recently unveiled new murals inside its facility, transforming spaces with vibrant works of art designed to inspire hope, healing and resilience. Created by Richard Curtis, former Associate Professor of Art at Thomas University and Archbold Auxiliary Member, the murals were the result of a collaborative process that included input from both employees and patients. Curtis carefully crafted pieces that reflect the beauty of nature while promoting a sense of comfort and encouragement.
Coronary calcium screenings are an effective way to assess future risk of heart disease or heart attack. Using a relatively low radiation computed tomography (CT) scan, doctors can examine arteries to check for calcifications. This valuable screening is now offered conveniently at Archbold Mitchell in Camilla.

Staying active can make a big difference for people living with Parkinson’s disease, and Archbold Therapy and Sports Medicine is making it easier with a new exercise and wellness class designed for those affected by the condition. Led by occupational therapists Molly Cone, OT, and Jenna Deloach, OT, the class will focus on exercises designed to improve rigidity, balance, posture, walking, and coordination. These areas are often affected by Parkinson’s, and regular exercise can play an important role in helping people maintain their independence and quality of life.
Archbold has received state approval to establish an adult open-heart surgery program at John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital, marking a significant expansion of cardiovascular services in the region.
Archbold’s continued commitment to integrated, high-quality breast cancer care has earned the health system accreditation under the American College of Surgeons (ACS) National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). This designation recognizes centers that provide the highest level of multidisciplinary, patient-focused breast cancer care. For patients, it means Archbold meets rigorous standards for excellence in prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. Archbold treats thousands of patients in its surgical department each year, including approximately 250 children. For many children, surgery can be an experience associated with fear, anxiety and emotional distress. A new partnership between the Archbold Auxiliary volunteer organization and the Archbold Surgical Department is bringing comfort to these patients when they need it most. Pediatric surgery patients at Archbold now receive a stuffed bear to provide emotional support prior to their surgery. Each bear, appropriately named “Archie,” is funded by a donation from the Archbold Auxiliary.
Archbold Pulmonology offers patients state-of-the-art technology with the Intuitive Ion robotic bronchoscopy system—a cutting-edge platform that enables pulmonologists to reach hard-to-access lung nodules with unprecedented precision. The team of pulmonologists—Ronald S. Batin, MD; Christian J. Trujillo, MD; and Luis Wulff, MD—completed their 500th robotic-assisted lung biopsy using the Ion system on February 11, 2026. This milestone reflects Archbold’s continued commitment to investing in advanced diagnostic capabilities, supporting earlier detection and faster treatment for patients across Southwest Georgia. “The Ion system has been transformational for our practice and for this community,” said Dr. Batin. “It allows us to access all 18 segments of the lungs to obtain tissue safely and accurately. When lung nodules are found to be cancerous, performing biopsy locally with the Ion system at Archbold often allows treatment to begin earlier and with greater confidence.”
