Sometimes your dream career is the one you discover along the way. Juliana González Garzón's journey into technology didn’t begin with coding. It started in Industrial Design, fuelled by a curiosity about how people interact with the world around them. That curiosity led her in an unexpected direction into the world of IT, where she observed something that still drives her today: when systems work intuitively, people feel greater autonomy and confidence. That belief now guides the work she leads at Convatec, as IT Operations Manager, based in our Bogotá CBS hub, creating technology that empowers and removes obstacles. At Convatec, she has grown technically and professionally in an environment where she feels respected, supported and encouraged to contribute ideas and explore new ways of working. Working across different regions, Juliana has discovered how Convatec’s culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and our commitment to being 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 leads to better solutions for our teams and the people we serve. As she’s progressed, Juliana has watched the tech landscape evolve - with broader representation, more diverse perspectives and a growing focus on inclusive workplaces where everyone can thrive. Her journey shows there’s no single path into tech. Her advice to women exploring roles in IT at Convatec – and to anyone looking to grow in the field - stay curious, adaptable and open to where your skills can make the biggest impact.
Women across Convatec are shaping innovation through diverse STEM journeys. In Denmark, Design Engineer Stine Dahl‑Petersen blends science with human‑centred design to create intuitive infusion solutions. After beginning her career as a teacher, she discovered her passion for hands‑on problem solving. She values the ability to “experiment, explore ideas” and the trust that has supported her growth. “Seeing relatable role models builds confidence and challenges stereotypes about who can succeed in science and engineering.” In the UK, Rachel Ziregbe, Senior Design Assurance Engineer, strengthens product safety while championing future STEM talent through the WISE Young Professional Committee. “Convatec has supported me by giving me space to grow technically while backing the things I care about,” she says. “Visibility matters because you can’t be what you can’t see.” In the U.S. Rachel Pytel, Technical Fellow in Materials Science, shows how non‑linear careers thrive here. After moving from a Director role into a deep technical path, she found her energy in complex scientific problem‑solving. “I love working in this area because the impact is tangible. There are interesting Materials Science challenges every day.” If you’re inspired by these stories, explore our current vacancies or join our talent community via the link below.
