For this years Pride Month, our Queer@Depop Employee Resource Group (ERG) hosted a series of in-office events to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ employees and allies. We spotlighted queer-owned businesses with delicious food from Voodoo Ray's and drinks by Queer Brewing. Highlights included Drag Bingo hosted by the fabulous Tiana Biscuit, a lively Queer Trivia night, and the launch of our ERG’s first-ever Book Club and the Queer Little Library in our London office. With support from all our ERGs, Depop is committed to creating a workplace where everyone can show up as their authentic selves all year-round. During Pride Month, we shine a light on queer joy and community while honouring LGBTQIA+ history, achievements, and the continued fight for equality and acceptance. Special thanks to the ERG Leads: Daniel Walker, Sarah Colee, Alana Dresner and Nikki Booth for organising!
Circular fashion is gaining momentum at the highest levels! In June, we saw the launch of the new Recommerce Caucus in the US, which aims to promote the recommerce economy and support platforms like Depop. It is great to see that bipartisan leaders are championing policy initiatives to make it easier - and more rewarding - for people to buy and sell circular fashion. At Depop, we’re proud to support this commitment to growing the recommerce economy as a driver of entrepreneurial opportunity and sustainability. Our CEO, Peter Semple, put it best: “For us, this is about extending the life of clothes, empowering a new generation of creative entrepreneurs and connecting a global community that is reshaping fashion. By advocating for policies that grow resale culture, we’re not only making desirable secondhand fashion more accessible, we’re also unlocking economic opportunities.” Read more here via The Wall Street Journal: https://www.wsj.com/articles/bipartisan-legislators-want-more-people-to-shop-secondhand-17c89cf5

Recently, a group of Depop employees rolled up their sleeves (and boots!) and joined forces with the amazing Washed Up Cards team to help clean up the River Thames. In just over an hour, they collected 7 bags of plastic and rubbish - that’s approximately 70kg of waste removed from the riverbanks! Despite the mud and the challenge, the energy was high and the smiles were even bigger. A huge thank you to everyone who took part for your hard work, positivity, and for making the day so enjoyable! At Depop, we’re proud to support our employees in giving back. Every team member can use two Impact Days per year to dedicate their time, skills, or expertise to worthy causes or communities outside of their normal work. Yesterday’s clean-up is just one example of how lending a hand can make a real difference. Shout out to Claudia Jackaman-White, Mahan Rezaei, Miriam Bouteba, Srisha Sritharan, Martina Zurli, Abi Rigby, Angelica Bartlett, Kim Boloorian, Amr Aljundi and Laura Mavrias for taking part! ♻️ Let’s keep working together to keep it circular, one step at a time. ♻️ #TeamDepop #ImpactHours #Sustainability #Volunteering #WashedUpCards #RiverThamesCleanup
This month Depop partnered with Westfield London as part of The Good Festival - a celebration of conscious consumption, circular fashion, and sustainable living. This collaboration brought together some of Depop’s most inspiring sellers in a unique physical space that showcased the thrill of shopping on Depop in real life. From luxury fashion pieces to curated vintage collections, our community showed how style and sustainability can go hand-in-hand. Depop seller Sante (https://lnkd.in/gqD7Q2dQ) ran her unmissable phone charm workshop over the weekend, and some other sellers at the festival included: Studio Rchdson - https://lnkd.in/gMGC8iph Shop Henri - https://lnkd.in/gFiSuNVs Brownbreadldn - https://lnkd.in/gWFh8e2A Blank Seams - https://lnkd.in/gqzsNkAn Limia Vintage - https://lnkd.in/gT7apf49 Robs Rack - https://lnkd.in/gPH88yiw #Depop #TheGoodFestival #WestfieldLondon #CircularFashion #SustainableStyle

Depop’s Head of Trust and Safety, Sophie Walsh took to the stage at the annual Trust & Safety Summit in London recently to discuss strategies for breaking down silos and fostering collaboration across all aspects of T&S operations. Joined by Margaux Liquard from Yubo, and T&S expert, Inbal Goldberger, the panel explored ways that organisations can create a more integrated and effective approach to platform safety and integrity. The panel also revealed the blockers and challenges to cross-functional collaboration and offered advice on how best to overcome these obstacles. The importance of the role of culture in organisations was a hot topic, with panellists describing how leadership can implement cultural shifts to encourage valuable collaboration and break down silos in T&S teams. Many thanks to the Trust and Safety Summit for having us! #TSSummit
